With that said it all these units are the same essentially and it should just be the soft setting in menu 4 as in the wired versions.

Also the audio is not "hardwired" into the aux port like the other versions. I use iDrive Bluetooth for calls and music just fine when connecting to CarPlay. But I do have to switch to aux when I want sound or audio from CarPlay.

You're right, CarPlay runs on the phone so updates are done by Apple.

So for the audio. The way my Avin unit works in my M3 when I connect to it (wired) the sound automatically goes through CarPlay.. then I have to manually go on my phone and change the source to bluetooth. Is that your experience as well or can you just plug it in and listen to CarPlay music?

So.. I decided to contact Joyeauto to propose a silent group buy. I'm not sure if we want to go through with it after the shadiness but they said they would do it for $285.0 + shipping. And they didn't care if I announce it on here.

There are many others. I exchanged many times with them. Pain to negotiate but you need to keep chatting with them. Ideally you get a new sales who will cut price to get established.

I found a couple willing to match the price and finalizing details. Can ship individually which is almost same price as group shipped plus dispatch.
I ll keep you posted.

I hate to admit it now, but CarPlay looks great on the 10.25 screen... I just updated to IOS 13 Beta. Next move is Jailbreaking to add Netflix & Youtube to the mix

I believe so as any newer setup than ours is the id5 and id6 and can have carplay unlocked.

Not sure exactly what you're asking. So I'll try my best.

When I connect my phone to CarPlay I don't have to do anything to continue listening to the radio or Spotify etc via Bluetooth to the car.

If I want to listen to Spotify through CarPlay then yes I have to go into Spotify and select "localhost" as it's called on my phone with the little CarPlay symbol. Sometimes if I am plugged into car play and I get a call and I answer it on the phone it will default to local host audio. And it will be quiet. So I have to go in to audio and switch to BMW.

Also to get audio to work on the CarPlay or android unit period is to switch car into aux audio mode. Sometimes the whole things gets confused and I have to disconnect Bluetooth on my phone to get it to go through the hard wire in CarPlay. But that's like once in awhile. I'm sure there's a reason why but idk why it does that sometimes.

The box looks quite a bit different from your earlier pic of the Joyeauto unit and the one that bimmerretrofit sells. I would want to be sure it's totally the same. I'd be OK paying the $285 to make sure we're getting the same unit as you've tested.

Yes, like I said its diferent box. Same functions tho, and reviwes are good. I would be down for one unit for a friend if you guys decided to go this route. I think Joyeauto want 285 plus shipping so well over $300 all in.

Well you're the only one of all of us who have first hand experience with the unit. I would think you'd want to stick with what works if you like it. My vote is to go with the tried option but I'll go with the crowd. Can we get a vote from the other GB members?

+1!! I am in and I had already paid. I just want to make sure we get the best unit available, and not settle for a few extra bucks. With the amount of interest in this GB, we should be able to leverage someone to meet the price.

The attractive aspect of Unichip is that 360 camera has been confirmed by adjusting settings in the "secret" menu by long pressing button 4. It seems as though the consensus believes that the same functionality is possible with Joyeauto but the part I am not sure about is whether that has been verified.
