Car's looking great so far! I'm taking notes for ours. MPE is definitely on the short list after seeing all the trouble you went through to get the sound right.

Surprised you didnt go with the M style replica mirror caps. They've got the little pointy elf ear look to them... ebay link

Thanks!! I like the OEM look of the non-wingtip carbon mirrors. Nothing against them, just feels like a little poser-ish

I just picked up a 2017 X5 last Saturday and I'm looking to use BimmerRemote for this, as the car came with factory CarPlay enabled.

A few questions, if you don't mind:

1) Did you have your car hooked up to another car via cables while this was performed? If not, did you leave your car running for the entire 40 min process?

2) Have you coded anything yourself using BimmerCode, either before the BimmerRemote full-screen CarPlay or following? If so, did you encounter any issues with your previous codings not being saved? Or, does the full-screen CarPlay coding prevent you from coding anything yourself in the future?

I love the changes that I've made thus far (auto-folding mirrors at lock/unlock; tailgate close via fob; etc.) and I don't want to lose those things or prevent myself from being able to re-code them in the future, if needed.

Awesome ride!

To piggyback on jmack's post here. I have a set of H&R 20mm spacers w/ extended bolts for sale as well. I tried to run them on my front and with my wheel offsets it was alittle much. Went back to 15mm up front.

Decided to flash the transmission today with xHP Stage 3. Took 2 minutes -- easy install.

First impressions: downshifts are noticeably sharper, and rev a little higher. Upshifts aren't drastically different unless in Sport+, and even then it's maybe a 30% change.

Nice mod overall.

1. Yea, I had the car connected to a battery tender while flashing.

2. I've had one scenario where I wasn't able to code something after the full-screen CarPlay was enabled, can't remember what it was though. It kept all of my previous settings. I enabled the tailgate close via fob afterwards and it was successful!

Thanks!

Question on doing the transmission tunes. Is there any 'downside'? IE increased strain that would risk damaging the transmission? Is it recommended to have any upgraded parts or anything done to support the tune? My 35d is stock right now (will be doing a delete and tune later this summer), be nice to get the trans tune on now but not sure....

Been running XHP in various stages for a year and a half. Do some gearbox maintenance when needed and you're totally fine imo.

Can you share which set/rack you went with? Also, how has your experience been thus far? Any wind noise at highway speeds?

Found some carbon kidney grills on eBay. I'm not a huge fan of double-slats on non-M cars but it looks alright!
