Cabin air filters (MAHLE vs OEM BMW)
Is there a difference in functionality/quality between these two? The first is priced more than double than second and BMW OEM.
The second is made by MAHLE which I know gets rebranded by BMW. However, one says "activated charcoal" and looks darker than the cheaper one which does not. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...B6997URW&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1 Thoughts? |

Just installed Mahle one last Sunday. Used this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068N0EL8/
It does feel lighter compared to my BMW OEM one, but so far so good, next time I will try Mann instead of Mahle. |

No difference... I went with Mahle and compared it to OEM. Same thing just without BMW logo on it. I change those filters every 7-12k miles so Mahle is a way to go for me.

Mahle, Mann and Hengst are all OE supplier, depending on the plant the BMW is made
I have had good results with Hengst in my Audi, the build quality of all filters (engine / cabin / oil) seems more sturdy compared with Mahle or Mann, hence why Hengst is a couple dollars more. the element in the Mann oil filters would fold (collapse) to one another, and this never happened with a Hengst, so i stopped using Mann oil filters in my Audi. just ordered another Mahel oil filter for the N57, since they are the main OE supplier for oil filters, we'll see how it holds up

Thank you all for the responses, I went with the oem filter in the end to be on the safe side in case I have to show receipts to my dealer for extended warranty work/disputes.

The Mahle one is exactly the same as the OEM one. The OEM one even says Mahle on it.
And no they don’t [and can’t] void your warranty for this. |
