Impressed with MPG. What's your best?

Played a bit of game just to see how efficient X5 Diesel can be with normal driving. I was not hyper-milling, but was driving in eco mode most of the trip. AC was on as well.

Result: 41.1 MPG (US) or (5.7 l/100) over 65 miles (104km).

What is the best MPG (l/100) you achieved?

I see 32-33mpg daily on my 45 minute commute back and forth to work. This is somewhat mixed driving in ECO Pro Mode. The best I can pull on a single trip so far is right around 40mpg like yourself. Obviously all depends on flow of traffic, lights, etc. I am very impressed with the economy over my E70 35d so far. The 8 speed trans, ECO modes, and more efficient motor makes this thing pull down some very nice numbers.

I've been getting around 21.5 - 22.5 MPG with 50/50 local/highway drives. Hope to get more but stop-and-go traffic is inevitable everywhere in the DMV.

I think in the UK our mpg calculations are slightly different?
Anyway on my daily 25 mile commute each way (55 minutes) on main roads not motorway driving, I'm getting on average 33mpg (between 30 and 35mpg depending on traffic).
More than happy for the M50d.

I regularly get 42-45mpg on long motorway journeys, but I have the small motor in the sDrive2.5d. Pulls and drives great though

I knew you Brits would try to pull a fast one...

For reference... 42 MPG (UK) is 33 MPG (US) or 6.8 l/100.

That's not bad for 50/50 in DMV.

I am just amazed how efficient this thing is. It feels like with this vehicle there is no compromise. You get to keep your cake and eat it too. Pulls like a train, yet it sips fuel. Could use bit more power, but that is what a tune is for.

What were you averaging with your e70?

The OP has a Diesel.

This is my experience with my 35i.

Everyone should use a paper and pen to calculate their MPG and not the computer for a more accurate info.

True, but computer is fairly close to the actual numbers. It's kind of hard to measure fuel consumption properly unless you fill it up to the brim and then do calculation. Long run ( avg for the entire tank) would yield more accurate results, but for shorter distances, computer is kind of the best one can do.

From my personal experience with other BMWs, I found comp to be about +1 mpg from actual.

Not too bad...

I have MPPK, MPE and RC GTS Black, not bad for an average speed of 73.3 mph over 1161 miles. This was a long trip, from Georgia to Texas. That average speed though!

In my X6, My best the way I look at it, 200 miles on the track, I burned 40 gallons.
The absolute best 5 mpg I’ve ever driven.

Stock 35i and my work commute is 70% highway/30% city and I average around ~22-23 MPG. I use ecomode on highway and comfort around the city. I pleased with the mpg and it's one of the main reasons my wife and I didn't purchase a 4runner.

Consistently 14 mpg 50i, mostly comfort mode, with some Sport Mode driving here and there. The diesel mpg numbers are unbelievable. So tempting to switch to a diesel.

My diesel gets between 18-22MPG. Mostly city driving. Very depressing. Apparently, I have a lead foot.

7 mile commute in heavy traffic and I am getting just under 31 MPG. I am really pleased with that from my 40D!

I was getting 21-23 daily with my E70 35d.

I am now running a Chip Express tuner, so I have even more economy and power on my side. MAX setting is suppose to make 330hp and 560tq. Definitely feels like a lot lighter vehicle now, and the torque pulls smooth.

So by the USA calculation my M50d is achieving 24-28mpg which is still not bad compared to your 3.0i and 5.0i SUVs.
Saying that the cost of fuel in the UK is so much more than the US - we are currently paying £1.37 litre hence why more people drive diesels here.
