Exactly! I will say, when I had my Jeep GC SRT8, I had a supercharger with a borla exhaust and I'm sure it would change that race in a heart beat! Only issue was that the transmission couldn't handle the power. Huge issue with GC SRT8.
Just wait until the Hellcat SRT8 comes to the corral, that is going to hurt us......

I used to cringe watching automotive journalists try and drag race manual transmission cars....it was unbearable. Now it seems launching the easiest vehicles ever is too much for them. I guessed the X5 would win.....but we really have no clue how the others stack up. How did the Jeep lose by more to the X5 in the 2nd race than when it did when the X5 jumped too soon in the first race????? In a properly conducted test, those margins are much closer. Shame on these guys!

Too bad it is still a Jeep in the end. ugly outside, probably ugly inside. Totally personal opinion of course!

I am also not interested in paying that much for a Jeep.

Had three cayennes turbos. Will buy another again without hesitation. Our last one was sold at 100k miles and still running like a champ.

Speaking of paying too much. What is price difference between x5m and turbo s?

X5M starts at $98,800 while Turbo S starts at $157,300. There is almost $60K difference.

I would still take the porshce because I am never going to drag race and i care more about the fact that the turbo s interior looks nicer to me.

the x5m does look nicer outside by a mile though...

I would take the X5M over the turbo S even if they were the same money. I think the M looks way better.

The Jeep isn't in the same performance league as the others. The tables will turn though when they drop the Hellcat motor in it. Rumored to be soon, too

I have to disagree with this post. The price tag is a bit much but I got the upgraded interior with the peanut butter leather sounds etc and it is gorgeous. 68k for a truck that handles amazing beats a lot of cars has a great interior and sounds mean as hell, you forget about the price once you drive one. Granted I have headers back exhaust and an intake.

As they say though, different strokes for different folks.

Well I hope they don't just drop a motor in it. Because then it'll just be a typical American muscle car...

A car with a huge motor with a chassis that can't handle it.

Jeep has a chance to make something awesome here

I think it's nice that you can get a wickedly fast mid-sized suv at different price points. they all accomplish the same thing, roughly. the X5M looks the best to me but the Turbo S has that extra level of refinement and class.. but as with most things I think you pay substantially more for a smaller increment of improvement (quality, luxury, performance..) the higher you climb the ladder.

I would probably happily drive the SRT8 if that's what I could comfortably afford new (and it fit my family's needs). I would probably drive the X5M or PTS if I could comfortably afford one of them, too. right now, these are too small for our family... maybe after car seats!!

having gone thru 2 SUVs, gone thru couple sports cars,

I totally understand a diesel, torquey suv.

4000lb+ high center of gravity + 500hp gasoline + drag race = i just don't get it, i don't think i'll ever get it. I just don't get it...........period.

Because premium gas is less than $2/gallon.

I used to think it was pointless to have a high power SUV until I finally own an X5M. Not many SUVs will do 0-60 in 3.8s and corners at 0.98G. Also, it logs the same Ring time as an E92 M3. It is a true sleeper.

More kids revved their engines next to me when I had an F80 M3. Now, only real car guys know what I have under the hood.
