Thanks.

Curious as to what features you coded?

I only coded the following:

- Turn Signals in HUD (which also gave me seatbelt warning and door open warning, unless I just never noticed it)
- Switch on LEDs in door handles in reverse
- Mirror folding (locking) w/key fob
- Mirror folding (comfort access)
- M Startup Animation

Worked w/no probs thus far, with the exception of having to remember to update the time after each code attempt.

Only should have to update time after Coding instrument cluster functions.

Copy! Now I'll know when changing anything in the IC to expect that orange triangle and _ _:_ _ setting on the cluster.

Yeah, I'll get to it. I was just irritated. So much of what we deal with, tech-wise, is like this. I just get tired of dealing with software that doesn't work. It has become, apparently, a normal part of being a consumer to have to develop a relationship with the customer service / software development part of any company we buy something from. It gets old. I only have so much time.

Got it.

Only thing I could not find was brightness of angel eyes. I saw it once, got an error while coding then I can't find the option to change it. (Bimmercode+vGate2 WiFi)

Hi Almaretto;

I recall reading about a DIY on how to just download the car data and work offline but i can't find it.
I want to practice a little before I code for the first time, can you lead me that way please.

The only steps you need to be connected to vehicle are when in Expert Mode > Coding (ie pulling vehicle files and uploading changes). Otherwise, you can disconnect. You can load NCD's directly in FDL-Editor.

If already "Read Coding Data," you can load modified CAF by right clicking blue CAFD & selecting New > FDL.

Thanks, I get a "no connection established C078" error message.....I believe must be something with the cable IP address?

Hey all, interested in coding for basic functions (key fob control of tailgate, etc) that would be easier for my wife and baby. Don't have time or savvy to manually code. Thus, bimmercode plus obd adaptor quite appealing.

Quick questions (and apologize if it's all been answered before):

1. All I need is bimmercode, my iPhone, and adaptor for coding the basic functions in the app, or do I also need Bimmerlink app as well?

2. Does this void factory warranties for the on board computer?

I appreciate the advice and again apologize if this has all been said before.

Bimmerlink is needed to clear errors.

You'll need bimmerlink to clear errors after coding.

Thanks for the responses. So pay the 26 bucks for each app, get the adapter and I should be good to go.

Any input on my second question, which is whether coding affects factory warranty for the on board computer?

Thanks again!

Thanks Almaretto but will I give up with coding, I really don't feel comfortable enough for coding, so before I make a costly mistake, I rather stay on the safe side. Thanks anyway for all the help you provided

Yes, correct. Only issue I am having is front function module is not showing up on Bimmercode.

Don't get Bimmerlink until you're sure you need it. Coding produced zero errors for me, oddly.

Did you do any lighting or head unit coding? These triggered three errors right away on dash, and many more on bimmerlink app.

Does anyone know how to connect to front function module ecu? Bimmercode app doesn't show it.

So far I have done with vGate 2 WiFi(icar) + bimmercode/bimmerlink are:

1. Open/Close boot with trunk button on key fob.
(You have to hold button down while it's closing)

2. Fog lights with Parking lights. I really like this feature.

3. M splash screen + M performance digital gaugeI had this feature in the M3 and it's nice to see it again.

4. Signal indicators on HUD. Had mix feeling initially but it's nice. I'll keep it on there.

5. Folding mirrors with holding lock down on key fob. Also works with keeping your finger on comfort access. Choose not to do unfold with key fob.

6. Video in motion + Video USB. Haven't tried this.

Many more I want to do after figuring out why Front Electronic Module is not available. Cameras ra in higher speed would be neat for passengers.
