Power steering cutting off

Power steering cutting off in my new F15
It happens in any mode, comfort, eco pro, sport sport plus
While i am driving if i am making small movements like a slightly twisty road, feel that the power assist disappears for a few seconds then comes back
This is on smooth macadam no groove not rutted roads
It also happens when going slowly around a continuous curve, the steering assist suddenly disappears (the wheel gets much stiffer)
It seems worse when it's hot outside
I also smell a burning electric smell
Anyone experienced this?

I’ve never experienced this ... sounds to me like a failing electric power steering pump. Is your car under warranty or cpo? What year and engine?

There is no pump, it's just an electric motor.

Maybe there is something wrong with the roads you drive on...

I had a Dodge truck and the power steering pump went out as well. I could only turn the wheel one way, luckily it happened when I was driving slowly. But it doesn't sound like that's what is happening in your case.

I had power steering cutting off and on when I had almost discharged battery. I swapped battery and it fixed that. However, I had 100% discharged battery (after car was sitting long time on a lot). In your case if battery is good, then it could be wiring/contact issue if you smell burning smell.
In any case if it’s brand new take it to the dealer - it beats us looking into magic mirror ball and diagnosing it over internet

dush is right, just take it to them and have them diagnose it. It's possible it has thrown a code if there is something wrong.

Well you brought it to their attention, god forbid anything happens, they will be at fault.
I don't think I would let it go that easy. I would push them. You can't enjoy something if you aren't comfortable with it. Don't let them push you around.
