Exclamation Help Needed Downpipe O2 spacer

Hi everyone,

Today I decided to install ER Competition Series 4" Catless Downpipe on my X6 F15 and was told by a mechanic that I need some kind of "O2 Spacer" or I won't pass NYC inspection anymore. Does anybody know what he is talking about ?

He probably had this in mind.
I would suggest to remap-flash your ECU,because defaulter doesn't fix your CEL problem, just hide it.

Well I haven't installed it yet. So even with the spacer I would have to reflash my ECU ? And where I would see CEL error ? Would it pop up on my dash?

Wasn't quite sure what spacers to get so I got both 45 and 55 mm spacers.

There is also 90 degree shape ones If someone would comment those I would appreciate it.

Evo recewerks have horrible tech support. Contacted them yesterday left a voicemail. 2nd attempt spoke with operator was told that a tech gonna give me a call. No one called me they just don't give a crap I guess. Kinda disappointing that they don't mention anything about CEL problem and spacers.. and got even more disappointed when no one called me back..

The space will help a prevent it from getting a cel but it will still every now and than depending on how hard you drive as the air flow will trigger it.

The o2 spacer is just keeping the distance away from the downpipe as where the oem is closer due to the more air flowing thru the pipe.

If you reflash the ECU (Tune) than the Cel won't come on.
Spacers are just a hit or miss and doesn't truly have no cel light come on.

Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

I was thinking about a downpipe as well but with a baby along the way.
I don't want any smell or louder noise from inside the cabin.
