exactly what I paid at my local dealer. I'm a fan of the upgrade for a vehicle you want to preserve the warranty but add some pep.

Not bad... I just had mine done last weekend, purchased mppk from get bmw parts and had it installed at my local dealer. 950 for the mppk, 280 install 1,230 total. Worth every penny feels great even normal driving shifts are smoother and more aggressive.

Ok...long story short, I have X6 msport 18 bought from UAE main dealer (Abu Dhabi motors) and wanted to add MPPK, and I also asked the other dealer (AGMC in dubai) for the kit with installation as in uae we have only 2 main dealers and guess what both asked for!!!

USD 4,100!!!

Is there is something wrong here! How can I approach BMW to complain as makes no sense at and unjustifiable the huge difference in cost between UAE and USA as an example.

Happy to hear your advise

still have to find someone to install it though.

I just ordered it, will see how it compares to my RaceChip Ultimate.
getbmwparts sells it for 995.. My BIG doubt is if I really can install it, because I have NBT retrofitted...and maybe dealer will program the car...
Get the MPPK installed. You won't regret it!

What did you end up thinking on the extra sound from MPE? What color did you have the tips powder coated?

It’s just right in my opinion. Nice roar at cold start. Great deceleration and overrun burbles in sport mode and no noticeable drone. You hear it during normal driving but it’s not super noticeable and in no way annoying.

Over the last couple months I’ve taken a few 600 mile round trips and not once did I notice any droning.

BMW did a great job with the exhaust. I had the tips powdercoated gloss black and they still look great.

My only gripe is that I wish the MPE came with quad tips instead of the stock shape tips.

Dinantronics with or without MPPK

Hi all,
This thread has been super helpful, I definite want a tune. In looking at Dinan's website, they sell a tune for cars with or without the MPPK. So which would you choose:

1. Buy the MPPK and then piggybacking Dinan
2. Skip the MPPK and go for the full-fledged Dinan standalone tune

If the MPPK is around $1200+ installed and then adding the Dinan for $2120, that's a big jump versus skipping the MPPK altogether if it's worth it. Hopefully someone's ran this comparison already to help out, thanks.

Forget Dinan, get MPPK (or not) and then something cheaper like RaceChip or JB mod.

I went the Dinan standalone only route and got a good deal on it during a sale. That pushed me over the edge on going for it over the MPPK. More than enough added power for me and the warranty coverage is a big plus if you are concerned about that.

I hear the risk is fairly minimal for adding other piggybacks, but with my luck, didn’t want to deal with the off chance it causes some sort of major failure.

Skip it altogether and get a custom tune from bootmod3. 600 for OTS tune and depending on your tuner get a fully customized tune to your specific car from 100+

It's easy to do yourself no dealer or coder needed and you can have your X5 tuned to your specific needs if you pay additional for the custom tune.

If you have the MPE you can set it to literally whatever you want...lots of burbles/pops, or not, short duration, long duration.

This in my opinion beats out the MPPK hands down. Not sure about the piggybacks but I'm pretty sure a custom tune will beat any piggyback as well.

Half the price of the MPPK with more power and I get to tune my exhaust to exactly what I want it was worth it and I would recommend it 100%

Fair enough, my thoughts on the Dinan were so I don't have issues with the factory warranty.

The custom tune would certainly be the better route but again the warranty is a focus here at the same time.

I totally agree with you if you're trying to keep the warranty go for MPPK or Dinan but if you're out of it like a lot of us are now, bootmod3 in my option is the best bang for the buck.

I was told either of those choices would void my drive train warranty

How do you like the Dinan? Was it a noticeable difference? What changes did you see/feel more?

I was told the same thing. do you have the 50i ? could it be only the 35i that wouldn't void ?

Does any of this work listed above void the warranty. I just bought a 2017 X5 and would like to give it some more power.

MPPK and MPE is from BMW so will not void warranty. As far as Jb+ and AFE, Warranty only be void if they found out the damage is directly cause by the JB+ and AFE.
