I also hear all kinds of weird noises from the cargo area of my 2015 X6. I first thought that there was something loose in the trunk BUT all was fine. The noises (mostly squeaking and rattling) come and go, but mostly appear on rough surfaces, especially city pavement. My guess is that all these noises come from all the hinges, rails and locks that fix/hold back seats in place and the cargo cover railing in X6 case.
My theory is that the structural rigidity of the back part of any SUV is less than that of in the front part due to wide disconnected opening behind the back seats (floor and roof only and no midsection connection), hence all the vibrations and micro deformations of the structure make the metal and plastic parts move more than desired, thus causing the metal and plastic parts make these annoying noises. But this is just a theory. |

Thank you M.bektas for the advise... i have the same problem... plastic contact plastic sounds from my tailgate too.. after seeing this post, i have put some electical tape on the position mentioned by M.bektas instead of taking out the own thing and adjusting it.... the noise has gone for now. |

how many of you have removed the cargo cover? it was the first item i removed from the vehicle when i took delivery of it. this may be the source of your issue(s) as well.

Rattling noise from the trunk area
I have been having a similar problem. I could hear something rattling/loose coming from the back side of my F85. I tried to eliminate all possibilities such as Spare tire, First aid kit located in the compartment behind the rear lights, the rails in the trunk (I made sure they are stable, I removed the safety/grocery net that connects to the movable loops in the trunk rail, i folded the rear seats... etc
I went to BMW for my driver side mirror camera issue and i talked to their body-shop expert and he mentioned that they might have to adjust the parts i will be including as a photo. As you can already see that the original adjustment shows one side is wider than the other.. I guess with temperature differences from day and nigh and being in the garage and out... it needs to be readjusted. I will yet have to test drive it and see if this solved the issue. |

I'm noticing creaks on my tailgate now too. But it's not when driving. I get creaks when I close the tailgate using the button. Not sure if it's because of the warmer weather or what since I didn't have this issue during the winter months.

Also, I removed the caps and lost them... I think they threw them away at the carwash. Does anyone know if there is a part number for them? |

the cargo tie downs sometimes rattle against the rail. have you removed them to see if they are the culprits?

I use this on the rubber trims around all of the doors to help with squeaks.

How did it go? PLEASE ask your dealership to check the parts i took picture of and show them the picture. I am sure they know how to balance it properly since each car comes off the production line a bit different.

Other than that I put the felt tape as suggested in the posts and it actually almost completely eliminated the popping noise! I hope that once i put the protective caps back on it would be out completely, but it is a major improvement already. |

I sprayed silicon lubricant on both the plastic and where it meets that circular rubber and the noise got worse.
I believe these two parts needs to be clean and free of dirt and grime, so I washed both the plastic piece and the circular rubber stopper with the BMW glass cleaner and the noise went away. My X5 has about 25K miles and the noise got progressively worse throughout this year. |
