Having own nearly one of each X5 since debut and a few "doubles" of some; I am going to have to be blown away by the interior to overlook these concept designs. Holding out for release of photos and actually seeing one in person before I pull my deposit from the RR and run to BMW.

Understood... I meant without all the disguises and camouflage and the showroom unit is sitting on the sales floor.

Prefer the current MSport wheels to be honest and the F15/F85 tail lights.
The kidneys has been discussed, so I will pass. Rest of it looks great. Diffuser seems to be standard going forward, which is a plus. Also like the fog lights on top of the grill! |

The rear model and trim emblem is placed in a awkward position.. First thing to be debadged for sure...
And I see that they still include the small front fender ///M badge on the Msport trim.

The rear is very un-inspiring and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the design, I can't believe those taillights got the green light from chief of design. I agree that the rear looks like a cross between a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Mercedes Benz.

Rear needs redesign or some aftermarket modding to lessen the damage. Someone in BMW design team was drunk.
Side view (profile) looks same as f15. Front is fresh and I like it, especially with blacked out grills. |

The grills are massive and I do not like that they connect in the center but I guess this is "evolution". Gloss black will hide a great of that size and probably grow on us all once we see it more often.
They appear to be a larger derivative of the 405M wheel found on the F3X platform. Probably an option as before but just another thing to remove. BMW has become a bit overzealous with their badging... especially when it comes to the dilution of the ///M logo.

It appears most of the focus was on infotainment and the interior. Outside of the bucktooth version of kidney grills the silhouette is not a huge departure from what we have all been staring at for the past four years or so.

Looks like it has air suspension. Maybe it's in the lower mode.

Interior looks good! I like the integrated fog lights in the side grills. The rear looks like poo and in particular the lower bumper and taillights. I plan to check one out at a dealer when it’s available but unless the interior blows my mind and rear looks less terrible in person, I’ll prob wait till the next refresh to decide if i’ll upgrade.
Edit: looking at the leaked options packages, the offroad package looks tempting and it seems the M-Sport will include a MPE and brakes?? Although it’s going to take some time to work out the bugs...I will prob still wait a couple years.

After looking at it some more I am starting to like it. Exterior and interior wise. I don't like that besides providing B58 engine BMW left same 50i specs (just 0.1sec faster - which is nothing). Still no option to switch into RWD for dyno, donuts and track). No weight savings - still same 5170lbs (50i) weight. So turned out CLAR platform was a hoax. I'm guessing all real changes in hardware will be reserved for X5M next year.

I have to imagine it will be faster than .1 second because it underwent a 600lb diet. You have a gutted X5 and were able to extract more excluding the tune/pipes. Also the the new V8 5series is faster than the previous M5. I would guess the same would be for the X5 against the X5M.
