Passenger Wiper Arm Hitting Hood
UPDATE: Post #11 of this thread details how I fixed the issue, as well as pictures of the end result. If anyone experiences this issue and needs assistance with the fix, please send me a PM or reply to this post and I'll help you out.
Has anyone else experienced this? The arm of my 2017’s passenger side wiper (at the elbow) is contacting the hood, seemingly out of no where. Every time I use the wipers this happens and, as you can imagine, is accompanied by a loud metal “tap” each time. This has me stumped, because I have no experience with wiper assemblies (outside of changing blades). Does anyone has experience with this? As Spring in the Northeast is around the corner, I’d love to get this solved before it turns into a bigger issue through more wiper usage. Thanks in advance! Did some trial and error to get location just right to just barely clear, on full speed. Mine especially hit once on full wiper speed. Good luck

The arm doesn’t seem to want to come off of the threaded bolt. |

My passenger side rubs the hood when I have the arm lifted to clean the windshield during a car wash drying up the windshield. But during regular operation it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I can't really find any DIYs or videos online, specific to the F15, for how to remove and reinstall the wiper arm. I'm concerned that, once I get the arm off of the post, the solution to the problem won't be incredibly clear. I guess I won't know until I dive in. I'll report back. |

Spray some w-40 or equivalent while you wait to loosen up bond to help removal. Mine was not that tight so came right off but pulled seen like best option for you.

And mark location on arm and spline, this way easier to just move a click up once off to align it perfect without trial and error which I had to do as I was not patient enough to do it

From there, I simply re-aligned the wiper arm so that it was a few millimeters above the hood while down. Based on these pictures, do my wipers and wiper arms look like they’re in the correct positions? They seem to be operating without issue, but I’d love any advice/input from others. |

Looks good to me, mine set very similar and still allowing them to drop down low on windshield and be less visible from inside. Nice job!
