Staggered wheel setup
I have a 2015 X5 35d that has a staggered wheel setup
275/40/20 front 315/35/20 rear My question is can the rear wheels fit on the front without rubbing when making a turn, want to get away from the staggered setup. It looks great but a pain trying to keep good tires Thanks in advance for your replies |

If you want to get away from staggered setup just get a wider square setup so something like 295 width all around with spacers in the back (if you want to keep the look in the back). Rear wheels may no fit the front tires as they would be way too wide for the tire that can be put there.

There is no reason to have the staggered setup beyond looks and maybe a little handling improvement in dry conditions. That said, I picked up a staggered set of wheels, will install tires on them soon, because it looks better.

I'm running 315/35/20 tires on the front, but with aftermarket wheels. The wheels are 20x10.5" with a +27 offset. It's a very close fit with barely a finger width between the tire and the front strut. I tried 15mm spacers but found it stuck out too far so I dropped down to a 5mm. I did run it without any spacer for a while though and had no rubbing anywhere.
Just try swapping your current setup around and see if it works. |

Some prefer staggered merely for the looks. It gives an aggressive stance. I’m running staggered for both season wheels, though sometimes I would prefer a square setup for rotation and ease of finding replacements!
