How many members are on this forum?

Is there any way to find out how many members are on this forum? I'm gonna be talking to BMW NA this week about if they're gonna goodwill my 45k mile motor. I'd like to mention that I frequent this forum and their decision whether generous or poor will be broadcast out to 100s or millions of potential or current BMW customers.

At the very least you know that mine was replaced at 75% even out of warranty. I was 11 months out of warranty but only 43k on the motor. You would think that at the very least they could do the same since we know some motors are lemons. Also is good to mention that my BMW dealership went to bat with BMW NA and I'm sure that relationship helps. Do you have it at a dealership?

Yea it's at the dealers right now. They had to drop the upper pan ($1500) to see what the problem is. It was knocking and we're pretty sure it's the bearings or something catastrophic.

Not to be a debbie downer but BMW NA doesnt give a shit about its reputation through the forums matter of fact calling them out or the specific dealer through this platform might only make matters worse and is not a great approach. Just check AndroidBot's 50+page thread over on the G05 forums he went through all that trouble only to still be denied of a buyback and actually got blacklisted by a dealer. As fustrating it is be calm and kind as that can go a long way; in some cases even if they don't cover the whole replacement they might have you pay just a small portion which is better than paying 22k for a new motor as Ive been there done that..

Thats not what I meant lol by all means voice your displeasure about how a car with only 45k miles can already have engine issues talk/email whoever you have to from the bottom to the top through BMWNA but do it without making a scene as they don't owe you a thing if your out of warranty. If BMWNA agreed to goodwill you a new engine solely because you made a threat to go public then literally everyone will try do the same and well thats just bad business. As I have been in your shoes before hope everything works out well for you

+1.. However painful, sometimes we have to acknowledge the risk of being out of warranty.
I got a rude awakening in past year, with a ton of repairs, albeit non catastrophic. Whatever happened to OP, can happen to any of us... Nobody is special enough to be immune.
It's heartbreaking if you put a ton of mods on it.

Tell me about it, it has only been out of the body shop for a coupe of weeks. Of the six or so months that I've owned it I've only gotten to drive it for 1-2.

Wow...hang in there sir.
Saw how active you were on the classifieds/mods, and all this may go down the drain...

I agree. Citing forum membership numbers is neither compelling nor persuasive to BMW. What will inure to your benefit is how you compose yourself during the discussions; be polite, be patient, but also persistent.

Good luck, and keep us updated.

Well they told me that I'll be on the hook for $2500 for the new engine. That's a lot better than $15k I guess.

Thats actually not bad see if you can maybe push for a little bit less wouldn't hurt to try. I had two engines replaced one was my wifes 650i which was under warranty during the time that came out to 22k and a 550i that was 10k miles out of warranty which I partially paid 3500$ for a 21k invoice. If you can't do any better 2500$ for a brand new engine is very reasonable plus you get the two year warranty all in all good news

I agree, I was bracing for something closer to $10k.

Wow....$2500 is a steal man.
It's not pocket change, but it is brand new.....worth it.

No kidding! I don't think you can even replace an adaptive LED light for less than $2k on the F15s. I might need to go get a new engine from this dealership now to save me from future disappointment and pain...
