6WB with HUD Hunt

Hey guys, I've been looking for a virginized or new 6WB with HUD to swap my 6WA. Looks like they are not easy to come by.

Bimmertech and Kies Motorsports are crazy trying to charge $3000

Does anyone know of a good source to buy one?

Seems like the only other option is from European sellers on ebay who sell used ones.

Thanks

Is this for sure?

Seems like there are many sellers who sell BMW parts on ebay as legitimate businesses

So, everything from the other 27 member states is fine? Lithuania to name one?

Mate, look at the price and compare it with a brand new cluster. There is no reason for someone that has 6WB cluster on their car to sell it... Those clusters on eBay are stolen...

Yes, some might say it doesn't matter if it is stolen or not, but things are stolen because there is a market for such items, people that are willing to buy them... Until, one day, you'll find your on car missing the dash, navigation or wheels...

Is this directed at me? If so, sorry for asking but first you 'mix up' EU with Estonia and secondly, I never said parts aren't likely to be stolen or otherwise of shady origin. Just trying to get some answers, that's all

So, all stuff from EU member states on ebay is stolen, or just the ones from sellers in Estonia? You mentioned Estonia specifically so it sparked my interest.

To be honest it is worth being cautious with these kind of items I know many people where I live in East London who woke up the next morning to find their whole dashboards missing, steering wheels, clusters etc ESPECIALLY on X5's. The loss is so bad financially that the insurance companies write the car off even though mechanically they're fine.

Definitely! Sadly this is quite common in western europe, and indeed a lot seems to turn up in the eastern countries. I'm looking for night vision myself and so far I have yet to find a seller that is actually willing to supply me the VIN of the donor car, although I don't actually need it. It might not prove anything, but their unwillingness to share tells me everything I need to know.

Don't get a used one, you never know whats wrong with it. This seller is where I bought mine from (trusted) you can send him an offer. I got mine for $1650!

Here's another option

Thank you all for the responses.

The thing is I did not want to spend more than $1100 for one of them because I do not think it is worth more than that.

I have HUD so thats what I look at most of the time while driving.

Was considering buying a used one for $1100 on ebay but after hearing the truth behind the used clusters I'm thinking to pass.

Yea, its really more of a gimmick if you have the head-up display.

Exactly this! I have 6WB and Heads-Up Display and the clusters are literally just digital they do not show any other useful information/graphics because what it would've showed such as navigation directions and music playlists shows up on the HUD instead.

To be fair, 6WB is showing more info than 6WA. For example, the range is shown as an exact number of miles/kilometers... And yes, I know the BC can show it also.

True, but if you have 6WA with the full black panel display option then there's no difference in information displayed compared to 6WB with HUD. That's my experience anyway coming from my 6 Series GC to the X5 with 6WB & HUD

I have 6WB now, but my old X5 was 6WA.

I'd honestly sacrifice the glitz and glam of the 6WB for 6WA, because at least I can have turn signals in the HUD. (6WB prohibits this, unfortunately.)

Unfortunately this is not the case anymore.

Seems like you cant code HUD turn signals with the newest iDrive

Same for things like ambient light colors and daytime cluster at night

Oh whaat?? I was looking forward to coding turn signals into my HUD.

I haven't gone through Bimmercode yet since i got my X5 about a month ago but turn signals in the HUD was something that was on my list

I wouldn't be upset too much, I have turn signals coded on my HUD and frankly speaking find it rather pointless; also, unlike other things, you see the contours of both arrows whenever it's activated, kinda annoying.

When did you get your car?

I got mine 3 weeks ago and my friend 6 weeks ago and his is not codeable either.

The new iDrive is kind of cool though I have to admit I would have been disappointed if I had the same iDrive system that I had in my 5er.

Also, CarPlay is the biggest waste of money

I would have much rather gotten the Wireless Charging and HotSpot feature.

Siri is annoying when text messages come in and the only functionality it really has it showing your spotify list in the same colors as on your iPhone. I have carplay turned off and use the iDrive integration as I find it better.
