Anyone try these? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
And why are they triple the price of other pads?
Might be worth it to kill the noise and the dust with a properly fitting pad as opposed to the smaller F10 pads.

I just picked mine up yesterday trying to get the repair done. My dealer said no to a fix. I am curious about the Hawk pads though, and Power Stop Z23 pads.

I have the hawks in the front and power stop in the back, the feel is inferior to oem, no squeeks but no bite.

I may be able to live with no bite if I get no brake dust and no squeal in return. I usually do a lot of highway driving so I don't often have squeal, but now that school has started I'm hauling around little ones more on the roads and hearing the squeal all the time.

How is the life on the pads?

Which Hawk are you using?

I just found out that Hawk have HPS5.0 for both front and rear.
I have used HPS5.0 on my 997 C4S and it is great bite, low dust, and no noise.

Are you sure you part number starts with a "7" as those numbers don't come up on PowerStop website. However replace the "7" with a "Z" and you get the Evolution Sport Brake Pads.

Z16 Evolution pads have parts numbers listed for both front a rear on the F85.
Front: 16-1738
Rear: 16-919B
But it still looks like the fronts aren't out as yet. I thought these were suppose to be out by now.

Sorry. You are correct the part numbers are supposed to start with a "z" not "7".

Front Z23-1648
Rear Z23-919B

Also, these are the f10 M5 pads. They are a bit smaller so they will wear the rotors differently than the stock pads, less dust, firmer brake feel but less bite (especially when the pads are cold), NO squealing though.

I've had the Power Stops on the car now for almost 10,000 miles. They stop fine, almost ZERO dust and not much wear at all. I'm SUPER HAPPY I did this cause I hated the brake dust.

I was looking at these as well. They have quite a few different perfomance specs under the X5M on their site for pad compounds. I was looking between the HPS 5.0 and the Performance Ceramic. I like the sound of the HPS 5.0 but my main objective is to lower break dust. I had Hawk HPS on my GTR before and I loved them.

I have replaced my Brembo pad on my G30 540 Brembo BBK to HPS 5.0, the dust was reduced by a lot.

I ended up taking off my low mileage HPS5.0's. If you want to try these for 50% off retail, check out my posting in the classifieds.

How difficult is the pad swap? I might have a go myself if its straightforward.

Any special tools required?

You will need a torx socket (sorry, can't remember size), 7mm hex key (not a common size), punch and torque wrench.

Not a difficult but with the painted calipers, I don't think the X5m is a great place to practice your first time. I would find an independent mechanic who will do the job for a reasonable price.

I'm happy with the overall result of the power stop pads. The lack of brake squeal makes the car more enjoyable. would do it again.
