Replacing glove box lid
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. Just bought a new CPO 2017 X5 x35i in Mineral White last weekend. So far love it! Unfortunately, the previous owner put a nice deep gauge in the glove box. I found the part online but can't seem to find any instructions on how to replace it. I bought just the outside plastic cover itself....not the full body of the glove box. Any help would be appreciated. GLOVE BOX LID 51169287302 |

Replacing glove box lid
Hi,
I am having the same issue; need to replace glove box lid on my F15 X5 and cannot find easily understandable instructions. So was wondering if you were able to replace it and if yes, I would greatly appreciate if you could share some tips. Thanks, Boris |

HI,
I do not see the need for trading insults here; all I was asking if there are clearer instructions. I just need to replace the GB door/lid and not the entire glove box as the linked article describes. However, on the second glance, I realized there are instructions for removing doors as well. Also, that web site is not easy to navigate nor information is presented in more consumable format. In any event, thank you for the follow up. |

For your reference, that website contains all the official step by step guides that all BMW Dealers are using when servicing a car. There is no other more detailed guide, unless you do one yourself.

Great thread, I also bought a mineral white x5 used from BMW and it has a dent/puncture in the glove box that's always bothered me. The swap looks straight forward.

Waking up with a related question - falling open
Searched first but couldn't find anything specific. My glove box has suddenly started opening on its own, over a bump etc. Nothing wrong with the two plastic hook things on each side. Anyone have any tips? TIA.

This is a seriously easy thing to do guys...
(Not offending anyone) I read threads of people almost as if scared to tackle things. It's fairly easy to work on a BMW, just gotta know ahead of time that your hands might get cut up depending on what you're doing 🤣 You have to remove glovebox... -Unplug battery -remove bottom cover (passenger footwell) -Undo 2 screws that hold Air Bag (just above footwell cover)* make sure you're using the correct bit for this as those two screws have loctite on them! -Bring down Airbag. You'll be able to see how it needs to be pulled out so no issues, just be gentle lol (now you have access to the bottom glove box screws) -remove top center trim (under screen, now you have access to the top glovebox screws) - remove glove box, change out door. Hope this helps, but CatalinP is always on point. It's pretty simple. Good luck |
