BMW Certified - possible to extend to two years?

In 2017 the BMW Certified Pre-Owned program changed from offering +2 Years / +50K Miles of coverage to +1 Year / Unlimited Miles. I've read on this site that as of 2017 you could pay for the second year of extended warranty coverage when buying a CPO vehicle. Is that still true? What is a fair price for that extra year of CPO warranty coverage?

I read on this site that the recommended retail cost is $1,600 (dealer cost $800) however a NorCal dealer just quoted me $4,600. What have you seen?

Yes, as long as your still under CPO you can pay to extend coverage. For my 2015 50i it was close to what you were quoted but my dealer also offered a 3rd party warranty coverage for almost half the cost. The difference was dealer had to get approval from 3rd party before starting any work, where as the BMW CPO there was not wait. The 3rd party company they recommended had even better coverage than the BMW CPO. My CPO is up in March and debating if I want to extend for another year or two myself.

I sound like a broken record but you can't extend through BMW's warranty if your just under CPO warranty and factory warranty has expired, you must be still under factory warranty plain and simple also remember you can get BMWs warranty through any dealer in CONUS so shop around for the best price.

I'm CPO on my '17 until 9/2022 with unlimited miles. I too was quoted $4600 for the additional year. Which I figured will be about 33% of total value of the vehicle when the current CPO expires. I passed, didn't see the value. for $1600 I would have jumped on it

I don't remember the name but think every dealer maybe different with who they use for 3rd party. I'll call the guy to find out and let you know.

So I talked to my guy and the 3rd Party coverage is with EasyCare. I was quote $3800 for additional 2 yrs or 100k based on my year and mileage on car. It actually covers more than the CPO I have which would include all Electronics, the Turbo's and Wheel Protection.

Your dealer has a very high markup as others have mentioned you can purchase the warranty from any other dealer as long as its in the U.S I paid $4,930 for 3 extra years with BMW platinum coverage from a dealer in California which is pretty much the same price of yours but at just one year.

It's a shame. It would have been the only thing I bought from the F&I manager

Just Called

Received a letter yesterday on dealer letterhead. Asking me to call for extended warranty quote. Was going to toss, but saw this thread and called.

2106 X5 3.5, 50K miles
Extend the original factory warranty for fours years or 110K
$11,000

2 years or 24K miles
$6,572
Both require down payment and then paid off monthly. Rep said transferable and cancel at any time. Company name is JM&A that I spoke with, contracted by Passport BMW in MD. According to fine print in the letter, Century Warranty Services actually provides the warranty: https://centurywarranty.com/

I made another thread asking about this but I guess I should post it here too.

I brought my car to the dealer to see about an engine knock that I started hearing yesterday. They quoted me $5800 for a 60 month/48,000 mile extended warranty with Veritas Highline. Has anyone ever heard of them? And is this a good price?

Got mine down from $3800>$3300 10% down and pay monthly for 2 yrs can cancel at anytime(no penalty/balance due) and is transferable which I doubt I would as long as the beast is working fine. This is for additional 2 yrs/100K. I even called several other local dealerships and they wanted to charge in the $5k+ range.

For me Im getting for peace of mind since I've brought it in for repeated oil consumption concerns. I wasn't lucky enough to get a new motor but believe after that last identified leak I no longer have to top off after 900 miles. I think I've gotten all seals and gaskets replaced because of it. As long as I have some sort of coverage I'm bringing it in. So if the within the next year I am issue free I may just cancel the extended coverage.
