Two years down the line and no problems at all with this 'B&O' retro-fit: operation is as smooth and quiet as ever, sound quality hasn't deteriorated. Overall, I remain very pleased with this purchase.

Never got round to installing the relay to enable rising and falling with the radio on/off - it rises and falls with the cars power status. I'd still consider fitting a relay if someone had the details, but it would be more about satisfying my curiosity than addressing something that bugs me
I to have had completely zero issues with mine as well. It for all intended purposes may have well been the real deal. Super hot super or cold inside the vehicle it has operated flawlessly since day one.

I really could not have been happier!

I have since added the matching OEM aluminum speaker covers and wired up the light in the tweeters so it looks as OEM as it could be.

All for a few hundred bucks.

I also saw you can code B&O surround vs having the standard HK surround option. Even without having the B&O system or amp.
I have the B&O speakers in my car. However, I matched it as closely as possible for a friend who got the B&O DSP on his and it replaced the Logic 7 with "expanded" (if I recall correctly). Here are the settings I had for him before with the original Logic 7 from HK and then with B&O. The B&O has a wider soundstage:

I have these settings since I saved them to my Notes App when I made the changes. Just changing the settings on the HK Equalizer made a difference. From the sound in mine compared to the HK, the only difference is the center channel where B&O has the Tweeter that disperses the sound more. So if you just replace the center speaker and use the B&O DSP, you'll get pretty close. The B&O has more power and gets more punchy when you crank up the volume.

The default HK settings sound muffled. Not sure why HK did that for a major vehicle like the X5.

Turn on Logic Pro (try off, some like it with off)

Almost all high-end audio gear (since the speaker components are made in China), the real cost these days is in the enclosure (expensive materials and handcrafting) and R&D for the DSP. The speaker materials themselves are cheap. FWIW, here is all the B&O gear I own (from my sig on the B&O forum) and I admit, the design and fit and finish are big reasons people buy B&O - even their really high-end gear, which sounds incredible). How did you power the lights? Is that what the extra wires are behind the panel?

Hey sorry it took so long to respond!

Your vehicle may have had the wiring already.

Mine did not.

Just need to attach the purple connector to the purple connector if you have the wiring if you don't you will need to attach the grey red wire of the led to the red yellow wire in the door and the brown wire to the brown wire. Pretty simple and they light right up.

Now I should mention this a setup but not the right one lol. It powers the led's but does not turn off and they stay on but are low draw so I need to find a wire that will turn off and then move it to the correct hot wire.

They will eventually turn off when the car goes to sleep but they will stay on with the few other leds that stay on in the car after shutdown.

Once you lock it and the car goes into sleep they all turn off.

Still a work in progress.

Yep ! Not like the Bower and Wilkins where the whole speaker lights up behind the mesh.

I suppose if you wanted to go dance party you could always add an RGB led and control the color with an app. Sky's the limit.

Yes some will have it based off option list some will not. Mine is just a 40e M sport with HUD but no 360 surround view or blind spot monitoring.

So some will have to wire it up the hard way and wire tap.

Hmmm, that sounds really interesting. What was your original audio option? HK?

I am intrigued where this tweeter light plug was connected on the other side. In case of B&O system it is plugged into amplifier. Do you have any idea how it is in your car?

That's what I thought as well. Mine is an original HK optioned car but no extra wires.

Makes me think maybe it was the extra options made that plug available

It could not be easier. They will send you the installation instructions but all you need to do is attach your speaker to the right wires and then run a fuse tap to the front fuse box to give it power. Accessory

Just need to cut the dash so it will fit.

Took about an hour and a half total.

Or any speaker install place that knows their salt could do it also.

Somehow got luck to lost instruction attached to the speaker and have only digital version left , which I believe way different and no so detailed. See attached one here , but that one with trim removal and etc I believe for x5 f15 isn't necessary[IMG][/IMG]

Yikes!

But yes the upper speaker is removed and the plastic cut out. But we where able to install the x5 with just feeding the wire down the dash and into the fuse panel with no removal of the trim. Only
The lower fuse panel trim cover was removed. Otherwise that was it.
