[QUOTE=arvinz;16860510]Ok so explain to me why BMW was able to achieve a hood cut line that extends to the kidney grills in these two but couldn't do this with the F22/F23/F30/F31/F32/F80/F82? That's one thing I hated among the newer gen cars.[

The higher front profile eliminates the need for additional front end protection.
Whereas the lower front end of the 2er , 3er and 4er needs additional pedestrian protection. It also means that in a low speed accident impact is absorbed by the nose cone leaving bonnet in tact and therefore reducing insurance costs.

I don't think it's going to matter to the pedestrian if you're driving a 2er/3er/4er vs an SUV..if you get hit at a considerable speed then you're toast either way...so "pedestrian protection" seems like a very loose explanation for me.

If you have a higher front profile doesn't that mean that objects you smash into have less chance of flying over the hood and into your windshield? Whereas a lower front profile would mean objects such as people or animals have higher chance at rolling over your hood and into your windshield. So to me, a low front profile vehicle should have less front end protection and more windshield reinforcement and a high front profile should have more front end protection.

Wow, pretty bad styling all around, sans the seats. These will still not be dynamically where they need to be.

I would say it would be a very interesting and very even match.

The M3 has going for a lighter weight.
The X6M has the advantage of more power in your engine.

I think it would have to wait for the journals as Autobild of Germany and US Motor Trend comparing these 2 cars, to see who is the winner.

Soo where do these NEED to be dynamically? Also based on the press release what leads you to believe this?

Perhaps you may want to review requirements in Germany/EU for vehicle design with respect to pedestrian protection.....

When I look at the performance specs, the first thing that comes to mind is, if this thing goes 0-60 in 4 seconds, what will the next generation be like? Thinking waaay too far ahead, but what's the world coming to? I love it!

Middles of the seats look like Cobras. I like the interior a lot!

I am a little disappointed, I like the X5 M50d styling more. Surprisingly I dont like the rims, or the mirrors either....

My disapintment was my biggest surprise. They sound really nice though and go like hell! Might just put those kidneys on my M50 d though...

Ugly as sin. I'll stick with my E70 with over 700hp.

Well the point here is, yes the shifter is just an electronic lever, the thing here is the different shift pattern (R left up or right up) between DCT and Steptronic.

If BMW uses a DCT(style) shifter on this Steptronic, at least have the correct pattern on it.

Unless this box is so new, the inside gears are now layed out as per DCT.
