Showtime Audio still has my car because they're installing some other things as well.
The bypass you need is the DEI XPresskit Dball2, which you can purchase from Amazon. Your installer will flash it with the correct firmware for your car. With the bypass working you can hook up any alarm/remote start you like and it'll integrate with your BMW's system. I'm using a Viper 5902 from my old car. I also have a Viper SmartStart that allows you to control everything with your iOS/Android devices. For exact installation details you'll have to contact Jerry from Showtime Audio. I believe the bypass didn't just work and they had to test some wires to get it working. Their number is 773-489-7469. |

BMW remote app works great in the winter time to heat the car up if you have the heater, I'm not sure how effective the ventilation is if the AC is not turned on for cooling the car.

Link on first page is no longer valid. Looks like they have an updated version of this PDF. It's the most helpful guide I have ever seen for F15 vehicles! http://directechs.blob.core.windows....ap20160630.pdf Now if someone just had pictures for trim panel removal to get to the antenna loop section of dash, among others... In summary here:
This is assuming self-install of course. Labor is not cheap for these things. I have done several, mainly w2w, not d2d stuff. Hope this helps some folks. JR |

It's called a Clifford. It works and you can pair a viper smart start to utilize your phone

yeah i have a clifford and viper smartstart on my f15. works great except when super cold out and car hasn't been running and battery starts getting low. the oem doesn't work via cell phone so distance sucks and i park in a garage most times and viper was much cheaper than OEM which is not even supported by BMW any longer.

Finding confusing info in the forum - BMW added remote start option in 2015, then option didn't work. Is there currently an OEM remote start solution for the F15 or not? TIA.

I'm right there with you. OEM is history, we know that much. Various forum posters claim to have gotten aftermarket systems to work, or have heard that so-and-so knows how to do it with this one particular remote starter and some voodoo magic dust and unicorn jizz smeared on the coils. And he's not sure, but you might have to embed a $700 key fob in epoxy inside the do-hicky up under the dash. I don't find those accounts very credible. If it had been figured out, there should be plenty of success stories and it would be easy to find someone to do it at a reasonable cost. Very frustrating.

So, found this option. I've been speaking with these guys for the last few days to get info on it. It has more options than just remote start, but it seems to be a plug and play option.
Similar to OEM, you need to put your second key inside the vehicle as it has an immobilizer. If I get more useful info I will post it as well. Hey there, I remember you from my Maxima days! Would you mind PM'ing me what combo of equipment I need to get remote start on the 2015 X5? I'm having a hard time finding a definitive solution. Also, if it can be self installed that would be great.

Unfortunately there really isn't a 'kit' per say outside of Eurostart. Still a decent bit of work and still requires a key though. We put together our own, per vehicle and the owners desires of functions when we're installing them.
