Exhaust valve...

Stupid question, but when is the exhaust valve open? For some reason I expected there to be an exhaust button to control the valve, but I see nothing...?

Is it just when the throttle response is set to sport plus? Or is is the drive logic setting? Or perhaps everything must be set in the max mode??

Thanks for the help.

In sport also. But you have to go over 2 or 2.5k rpm for it to open. Otherwise it remains closed

Allows you to control the valves regardless of engine settings. Had this on my F80 M3 and now on my F86 X5M.

Works great. Easy DIY install. Can even use the HomeLink buttons on your rearview mirror to control open/closed/factory settings.

Also, for those who have a BM3 tune, you can code this exhaust flap setting to: always on/always off or automatic, regardless of engine settings.

it's an app called bimmerlink, cost about 30$ plus you need an adapter, you can control the exhaust flap from your phone.

Thank you. What kind of adapter are you talking?

I have a similar 'kit' to control a 911's exhaust valve on/off via key fob or homelink button. It is a bit complicated to wire and install (for a newbie).

I set my M1 button with these settings: Engine Sport + everything else: normal/efficiency. So when I click M1 and then I touch the pedal (or when driving), the exhaust valve opens and stays open.

With this setting my M1 button is my exhaust button.

it's one of the adapters recommended by the app, and sits in the OBD port
