2014 X5 35i - Is it a good offer?
Hey there,
I'm interested in a black 2014 X5 35i with 47k miles on it. X-Line X5 with brown Nappa leather, 20" wheels and a lot of nice features like technology package, soft close, HK sound, etc. Tires are in good shape as well. Brake pads might be due in a couple of months. Price is $26.9k (ho haggle)and car has been sold as BMW certified car 2000 miles ago. Last private owner drove only 2k miles within the year of ownership. I think the price is pretty fair considering it was a BMW certified car recently and because all of the features of the car. What you guys think? Clean Carfax, no issues, regular oil changes. Last service & oil change was 3 months ago. All services done by BMW. What do you think? Good offer? How reliable is a 2014 X5? Does it have too much miles already? Thanks |

That seems to be a fair market price. Not a blazing deal, but I never really saw any blazing deals on well equipt X5s when I was looking. Seems fair if the car is clean and up to snuff.

Reliability should be fine, but with BMW, any repairs at the dealer can be expensive. Your next big maintenance is at 60k miles, and most of that is filters and fluids (transmission, differential, brake, maybe others). Standard repairs beyond wear and tear items may include the oil filter gasket, but everything else should be fine until you approach 90k-100k miles. The oil pan gasket can leak before or around that time, and it is an expensive repair. Common sense always helps. For example, BMW recommends changing the battery every 2 years for "optimal service" - cost is $500 or so, including coding. Your battery may be fine for 5+ years... |

Thanks for your replies.
Carfax retail value is at $25.300 for this car. It has not the driver assistance package but head up display, heated steering wheel, rear seat heaters, soft close, 20" wheels, nappa leather, adaptive headlights, surround view, light package, HK sound. I also think it's a quiet fair price if everything is ok with this X5. Good to know that the next big service is due at 60k miles. I think I will buy it. Was just considered about the 2014 model year as it was the first one. But I would buy an extended warranty plan for the next 4 or 5 years to be safe. |

Deal sounds good. 2014 had no major issues, you'll be just fine. Driver Assistance plus is usually a hard find and if it is found, it is something else that you wanted is missing.

Are you buying it from a dealer or privately? You can't get the car certified if you are buying from a third party dealer. This is main reason why I bought from a private party so CPO would carry over to me.

I paid $28K for my 2015 50i M SPORT CPO till early 2021. I think I got a great deal and local bmw dealer would give me $30K for trade in but I have too much invested in the car already to lose. Maybe before 85K I'll get rid of it

Hmmm that's tough call cause these warranty companies are a joke. I had one and needed work done. When it came to repair something, they went MIA. Not discouraging the sale but maybe put couple hundred bucks away a month as back up.

I bought this back in 08/19 at a Bmw dealer for 27,000. 43,000 miles at the time and pretty much fully loaded. Minus bang and olfsun stereo and leather dash it has everything . Couldn't be more pleased . Got an extended service contract 3 years 36,000 miles mechanical to. So far so good . Only issue I've had . Soft close motor failed in lower tailgate so I replaced it for about 190$.
