I have warranty until June of 22 and do not want to jeopardize it.

Please advise. Thanks.
Just put the fuse back in before you go to the dealer and then look blankly at them if they bring it up

Ha ha! I might add the confused shrug.

jrthe1 - I just had the dealership install new winter tires a few weeks ago, then had to take the car back to them a day later to replace one of the tires that picked up a screw in the sidewall on the drive home (not a slow leak!). The shop didn't mention anything about logged codes in either visit. I think such a minor code is basically ignored if it is not a part of the reason for the visit, if the key is even scanned for a tire issue, at least for my dealer. I've got a couple of years left on my (CPO) warranty so I want to be careful about jeopardizing the warranty as well. I can only speak for myself, but since the flap is there only for sound mitigation and is not related to drive train performance, I'm not worried.

Thanks TCTech and ems328i. I put the fuse back in and I'm pretty good looking blank and or a confused shrug.

Thanks ems328i for serving our country.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the private first class which I assume you're referring to is to do with the amount of time I've been on the forum rather than military service

I have been using bimmerlink to open the valve but it closes whenever you switch modes (from sport to comfort) or when you turn the car off. I found it annoying after sometime then i decided to do the fuse mod. So far no issues and loving it.

I unplugged the valve on my F16. What I did is, I opened the exhaust valve using the Carly App. I then unplugged it, taped up the valve connector and wire and it stayed open. The sound isn't a big difference, you do get some small burbles and the cold starts are louder. Overall I am happy with this mod.

I think the tape is going to melt and make a mess. I think the wire application will work better long term but what the heck.

The advantage of using the fuse removal method is that the valve stays locked open, no need to tape it, at least as far as I can tell on my car...

+1 Easy to change back when wanted. Produces a subtle, deeper, non annoying increase in exhaust note. Both exhaust tips show soot equally rather than right side clean left side black. Buying VEEPEAK OBDCheck BLE+ and Bimmerlink= $58. This is a great value exhaust mod plus you get all the features of Bimmerlink. What's not to like?

I did find Bimmerlink in the apple app store. Looks like it's $32. I'm assuming that's a one time fee? I've never messed with any paid apps. Seems as though Bimmerlink would be worth it in that you can read and clear codes amongst a ton of other things.

Yes, one time fee. Bimmercode for Android costs about the same, and for me it's been worth every cent

I used the Carly app to open the flap and then pulled the 146 fuse. No issues and flap has stayed open. I've paid for a lot of features on the carly app, however I think you can "test" that function for free (you will of course need the OBD adapter regardless)

Buying VEEPEAK OBDCheck BLE+ and Bimmerlink= $58. Does this actually change the exhaust notes or does it just keep the exhaust valve opened.

It keeps the exhaust valve open all the time which does in turn change the exhaust note. It is subtly deeper and slightly louder. Worth $58.00 IMHO.

Your post made me interested in the VEEPEAK OBDCheck BLE adapter. Is this any different then the other OBD adapters?

Might be a dumb question, but does the xline trim package have the exhaust flap as well or is this strictly an m-sport option?

As I understand it, all (gas, don't know about diesel) models have the valve, apart from those with M-Sport (or at least MPE) which does not have a valve...
