2015 F85 Warranty expired. Now what?

My F85 4 year warranty ended in April. What extended warranty options are available?

I see Carchex and asked for a quote.

I can change oil and filters but not sure what else I would try.

Thoughts?

Carchex. Do it, don't even shop around. Make sure to get the Titanium plan. Worth. Every. Penny.

There are different under writers for different quotes hence different repairs paid differently with mixed reviews.

Carchex is a broker and at times they would recommend the best value and not the best company. Make sure you find out the under writing company and read their reviews.

I did purchase Carchex for my E70 X5M but decided to pay more and instead got a different warranty.

Yes you are correct. When you brought that to my attention I called Carchex and they confirmed my policy was with "bla bla bla" whoever they were.

Still, Carchex is who you deal with. They are the purveyors of the policy and company "responsible" for it.

My experience has been stellar. When I asked my SA (trusted confidant) if he thought I should go with Carchex again or just extend the CPO he laughed for about 2 minutes and said get Carchex again.

BTW, did you get the Titanium policy?

Read the fine print carefully. Some mechanical breakdown insurers no longer insure M or AMG cars.

A good reputable agent or underwriter would run the VIN and if that year/make/model isn't covered they will tell you upfront.

100%

Not sure how you can buy a policy that doesn't cover your car, especially since they collect the VIN#. That said, I've seen crazier stuff happen.

Carchex won't cover AMG's because, and quote, "the engines are hand built and if there's a catastrophic failure they have to be shipped back to Germany to the builder for repair".

I almost pissed myself laughing.

Some warranty companies will only cover AMG's and not M's, and vice versa. Probably has something to do with corporate non compete agreements. There are plenty of amazing AMG policies out there, and only a few M ones that I know of.

Who's the underwriter on your policy?

Car Chex is offering 4 year 30k mile $200 deductible Titanium policy for a one time payment of just under $5k. Underwritten by American Auto Shield.

The years is great but the mileage is no good. It should be 4 year and 50K additional. At under $5K I can tell you it's worth every penny.

Based on my average of about 5k miles per year the term would work for me. Anyone have any personal experience with the underwriter. A quick google search found that many are dissatisfied.

I have bought many aftermarket warranties and have never found any positive reviews of any of them! Most ppl complaining because they didn't understand how the process works. Your relationship with your SA will be very helpful in getting any warranty work done. Make friends at the dealership no matter what warranty you buy and that is just as big of a help. Good luck

Thanks for all the replies.

I sourced a quote from Concord Auto Protect.

Reasonable.

Anyone here have first hand experience with them?

My advice is to keep your hard-working $5K in your bank account and pay any maintenance off of that.
Not sure what is and what's not covered under these policies.
"Stuff" does happen w/these vehicles, but I do prefer paying them at the time they happen -and not in advance. That's just me though, looks like I'm being outnumbered!

Keep the 5k in the bank. 100%. Unless you are planning on a new power unit or transmission (you already have a new xfer case), I would enjoy the ride.

That is what I opted for with my 2015 F86. I do all the maintenance and repair work on my 3 other BMW’s, so that was an easy decision. However, I pray that nothing catastrophic happens with the trans, engine, etc.

I "pray" for your car to stay healthy as well!
When you do the work on them, it's not even debatable.
"Catastrophic" problems you listed above are in the back of everybody's mind in these forums, especially when out of warranty.

These engines are junk relatively speaking. I've owned two f10 m5s lots of miles on them and of you go on the m5/m6 forums or are in the Facebook groups engine failure is common thing that's being seen now. Same engine as you guys.

Not to scare anybody.

But a warranty is worth it 200%. I paid 8400 for platinum plan 4/48k for my m5 through Lexus $0 deductible. Most warranties for these higher end cars that are worth anything normally cost 6-10k.

Audi rs7 warranty for 2 year / 24k fidelity platinum 11k for example.

You can shop around but the cost is up there for a reason.

Thread revival...

Probably a noob question but can you buy an aftermarket warranty if you're not the original owner and the factory warranty has ended?
