What's in your trunk?

Just picked up a '17 35d. Thanks to the community for your input while on the hunt. Below are a couple of first pics taken after delivery.

What do you guys keep in your trunk for safety and preparedness — first aid kit, tools, etc?

Moreover, what do you use to organize your trunk so things aren't sliding around?

Pics are appreciated!

Gorgeous car! Love the colors - or lack thereof, as it were.

In my trunk (besides my junk):
  • Space-saver spare, with jack and lug nut wrench.
  • Small funnel, for Boostane
  • Two thick quilted 6' x 6' moving pads. They protect the vehicle and whatever I'm hauling. Make cleaning up simple. Once fits under the deck, and one sits on top of it.
  • A small duffel bag with a tire gauge and a pair of gloves.
  • A roll of paper shop towels
  • Several lengths of cotton sash cord (rope) for tying stuff down. They're in the mesh pocket on the left side.
  • A Fage container holding quarters, for impromptu car wash/vac sessions
  • My Dragy, mounted on the ledge on the passenger side.
  • A snow and ice brush/scraper combo.
  • If I'm at the cabin or headed there, my Carhart jacket and a pair of boots.
  • My rubber jack pads, that fit the jack pockets on the vehicle.

Lol. Kids Christmas gifts, dry cleaning, odd bits of toys left by the kids, stuff that needs returning to the store and never gets returned. List goes on.

Otherwise the cars spotless. Trunk kind of a junk drawer.

Blame my wife........

Since it's a 40e I don't have the hidden storage compartment like others have. .

I keep an air compressor and 2 quarts of 0w-30 BMW oil (in case my v8 becomes thristy), both under the trunk lid. I store the oil in a large flat rate usps box with air bubbles so they don’t slide around. I don’t keep anything else in the main trunk compartment.

I keep a number of items in the trunk floor compartment, particularly during the winter season (frequently travel to Eastern Washington where there is snow).

1. tire chains
2. small snow shovel
3. small tarp (to put on ground in case I need to chain up)
4. recovery strap (have not ever had to use this, came over from previous vehicle. Got it to make wife feel better after sliding off road in snow many years ago. Need to find the proper recovery point for F15.)
5. emergency blanket
6. work gloves
7. Leatherman tool
8. flashlight
9. first aid kit
10. a couple drop cloths for messy cargo

Covering the boot - a BMW rubber boot protector!

A Fiskars aluminium shovel with a very short handle, but still with capacity to move a bit of snow in a hurry, telescoping brush for snow and ice, a pair of warm mitts, paper towels and polishing cloths, spare washer fluid ready for topping up, a Gerber multitool, first aid kit, asfalt remover/degreaser for applying before using the self service power wash at the gas station, Gyeon Wet Coat for applying during the same cleaning (makes water droplets form and makes the car much more hydrophobic).

No emergency blanket in there, I should definitely pick up one! If not for myself, then for other in need along the roads. Going to throw in a headlamp as well, although I often carry one for my photography trips.

Many transporters I've seen have a door on the side.

I have third row seats and non-runflat tires:
1) 6-ton bottle jack
2) Tire plug kit
3) Air compressor
4) Slime kit
5) Wheel chocks
6) 12 30-minute flares
7) Breaker bar with 17mm adapter
8) Reflective vest and warning triangle
9) Bottle of BMW 0W-30 oil
10) Umbrella

These all fit in the little spaces, except the umbrella

For organization:

11) I have the WeatherTech CargoTech (URL: https://www.weathertech.com/cargotech/)

If I go on longer road trips.
12) Donut spare tire
13) Second bottle of 0W-30 oil

As much as I like carrying a spare, it does take up a lot of room with third row seats, so I really have to gamble a little if I am close to home. I have AAA Premier.

+1.

Plus, I don't want crap going flying when the driving gets "spirited".

If properly stored, nothing should go flying or make unnecessary noise.

I have pretty much the same except the window breaker and seatbelt cutter tools are in the center console. Might want to consider that....
