Bm3 Stage 1 Flash

So i woke up this morning, started looking for some black friday sales, found out pro tuning freaks was having 15 percent off so i decided to pull the trigger on the bm3 flash tune. One hour later i was fully flashed and all i have to say is.....WOW!!!! All n55 engines should come right out the gate feeling like this. Comfort mode felt an instant increase in power, threw it in to sport mode and was completely blown away. For the first time ever i was completely pulled back in my seat when i stepped on the pedal and it felt great. Not only has the power increased, but i never really liked driving in sport because it always kept the revs too high and never seemed to know when to drop, but it seems like the bm3 flash even improved the shift points and revs. Love the tune, definitely recommended to anyone thinking about it, get it while its on sale!!!

did you go with the 91 octane stage 1 or the 93?

I'm going back and forth between the two.

just a heads up, if you take your bmw to the dealership, they will perform what's known as the march update and effectively lock out your dme. I purchased a license right after the update, back in June and it's still locked out.

I went with the 91 octane, I was actually gonna ask what these meant, I'm assuming if I got the 93 I would have needed to buy the higher octane gas every time I fueled up, so I went with 91 and I'm honestly very happy with the results

Yes I heard about this, I've actually been serviced after March which is strange to me, I did also hear that if u have a 14-15 x5 that the update doesn't effect it

i was under the impression that bootmod3 could unlock the DME through software. so you're not able to flash your vehicle using bm3?

i just purchased the car CPO from a dealership last month, so i'm assuming that it has the latest updates.

If you just buy the 10 dollar chord off amazon and hook ur car up to their boot mod system, they'll tell you if your car is compatible, that's how I found out. Oh and I. Also needed a usb to Ethernet adapter for my MacBook Pro because it doesn't have an Ethernet connector built in. So in total I spent about 20 bucks on the chords

I have a 15' it was taken into the dealership and the update was performed. I purchased the license and was told my dme was locked out. boot mod has yet to find a way in and at this point it seems doubtful with their focus on the b48. you will need to remove your dme, ship it to them and perform a bench unlock.

You guy are bad influence. I had been with RCU & MPPK for two years. Now out of warranty. Should I get this since I just got the charge pipe and catless downpipe? Main attraction is cold start delete.

Hey man I don't know what kind of increase the piggybacks and mppk give you, but all I can say is the stage one 91 octane tune from bm3 really made a significant difference in power, now that you already have a down pipe ur talkin stage 2 tunes, I'm sure it will be worth every penny lol

did you already have the laptop to ODB2 connection, or could you pick one up local to install within the hour?

I'm assuming the program walks you through everything so it's hard to mess up

0-60 guesstimate is 4.9-5.2 second. Almost no turbo lag with sprint booster.

I was told by protuning freaks to check with a local tuner to see if they have a K-Tag or dimsport tool to unlock and patch the DME.

I found one and I plan to get it done maybe on Tuesday. I'll keep y'all posted.

Does it give you an error during flash if your DME is locked?
yes this was the issue I ran into aswell that the chassis was locked out

So I went to get the DME unlocked on Tuesday, then tried flashing BM3.. and didn't work.

So apparently the new bmw update locks the OBD port and not the DME. So it will be impossible to flash tune the car unless it is done directly to the DME which involves removing it or plugging a flash device to the pins of the DME.

I ended up getting a dyno/custom tune and I'm super happy with it.

Did you have them adjust the power displays? I got tuned as well and I'm trying to have them adjust the power displays to read higher numbers.

Yes they did. They adjusted the throttle response, deleted cold start, open exhaust valve and burbles only on sports mode. The thing is soo fast now and the torque is everywhere. I also had the stage 3 xhp transmission flash which compliments the tune very well.
