what's others doing about battery replacements now?
With the life of our F15 X5 battery(s) starting to come to end of life, what are others doing about replacing there batteries? I say 'batteries" as our X5 has (2). One 90 ah (big one) & one 50 ah (little one). Are you staying with BMW's parts or going to outside suppliers? If so, who's brand & costs?

As long they are AGM kind, you are good to go. I register new battery once and other times just wink it. Seems to be OK, until time I sell my cars. |

Batteries on 50i were replaced every other oil change as per SIB. So batteries that we 50i owners have might actually be fresh. Unless car was never serviced at dealership. I'll check mine today and post the battery date just for fun to compare it to my car production date 05/2014.

What have you done to register the new battery? Dealer or some service tool?

You can register the battery using ista-d, it’s pretty straight forward: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1338304
I’ve done it on my previous bmw (2015 435i), only took 5 min, most of time spent waiting on my old thinkpad t60 laptop to boot and load ista. |

Just replaced the main one for $209 (OEM battery from dealer). Mechanic says aux battery is weak as well but they are severely back ordered. Will a CTEK charge both batteries at the same time?

Thanks for the reply sloanbj; do you know the P/N of the replacement? $209 isn't too bad for a dealer OEM. did they charge anything for the registration procedure?

I bought my replacement at BatteriesPlus. It is a 105AH for the x35i. Some dealers have the equipment to register the battery. I used a innova tool 3160g. I used ista+ to verify.

Put DVM on the main battery, it reads 13.8V while the aux batt still at 12.25V. This tells me the aux is not getting charged through the engine bay terminal. So one night I just open the trunk, remove bat cover and hook the charger directly to the aux batt. |

My '15 X5 x35i had the single 105 AH battery.
I purchased the AutoCraft Platinum H9-AGM from Advance Auto Parts ($159.99) that has the same specs as the OEM one and registered it with the Bimmerlink app. |
