Dashcam using parking cameras???
My wife is wanting to add a dash cam to our 2016 X5. Our car is equipped with the overhead parking cameras - it also has a camera right in the front of the grill as well as a standard backup camera.
The parking cameras are in the bottom outward edge of the rearview mirrors. I've seen people spending money to hardwire additional cameras up on their windshield below the rearview mirror and in the back of the car but since my car already has decent quality cameras installed would be someway to get into the camera system and just access that as a dash cam? You would think that is possible with the right software....

The side cameras point straight down. I doubt they'd ever record anything worthwhile. As for the front, not sure. Why not just get a stand alone cam? You can buy a nice one for 100.
