New front camera still not working after replacement
Hello everyone, I have a 2015 F15. My camera failed last winter, and I didn't get around to replacing this ridiculously expensive camera until now. I did the basic troubleshooting last winter, like inspecting the connector for corrosion, and checking wires (not much wire is exposed, unfortunately).
The symptom is that it shows blue momentarily, then gives an error. On the heads up display, the other three cameras show fine during that moment. It's really frustrating, because I paid a lot for this and only had it a few months before the camera died. It's a really nifty feature. I tried ISTA+ and I couldn't figure out what to do. It said I could recode (initialize?) something, but I couldn't figure out how to add the action plan to actually do that. Additionally, it says there's a communication error. I would try to find the control unit for the surround camera, but I can't find that either. It shows it like it's by the brake booster. I clearly can't find that anywhere near there. I even took part of the dash apart and couldn't find it inside. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...48#66539213990 Any advice would be really appreciated. This seems to be a very common failure, so surely someone has experienced something like this. |

A wire had insulation that was slightly damaged. The wire inside corroded through which caused it to fail. The camera was actually fine, so I wasted $400 on a new camera. Oh well, at least I have a spare now?

If either of you would be interested in selling the spare camera to recoup some of the money you spent, I would be interested, the lens on mine is scratched, but I don't care enough to go buy a new one.
