Looking for Navigation map update

Has anyone used Bimmertech or bimmermap website for map update ?

I need to update my 2015 x5 due to long road trip next week, I just don't have time to mess around with downloads to update.
I read latest posting for 2020 map update but i just don't have time for it.
Appreciate any recommendations.

The ones you mentioned are oft discussed on the forums...and I just ordered Next 2020-2 maps from http://www.bimmernavupdates.com/...I selected Lifetime FSC code + USB drive since the 2014 X5 that it is for has never been updated and still has the original nav maps. I would suggest checking multiple sites because some may cost more than others for the same thing.

BTW, I've used this vendor before for my 2013 F06 which has the premium maps. Again, I used the USB thumbdrive + Lifetime FSC which is easy-peasy if you don't feel like taking the less expensive route and downloading the files then uploading them onto your own USB drive.

I took your recommendation since you have experience from them and ordered the usb and code. Great info.
Thank you very much for your quick response !!!

Unless you get it from the dealership/BMW NA (they will sell you USB stick and license) other guys will provide you exact same download link and FSC code. All what you need is a USB drive and the code, there is nothing to "mess around", so the fastest way to get updated is to download maps, put them on the usb stick, get the code off ebay ($15-20) or your preferred retailer and call it a day. You choose if you want to download them for free or pay bimmertech ($120) or bimmermap ($40) for the same download link and the code. Just look on the main page of bimmer map:

Quote:
NOTES:
this USB map update is available by download only and requires a 32GB USB 2.0 stick to copy map data and load it into your car navigation system's USB port.

Map Data Files will be sent to your email. All download links are from a stable & fast server. You will need to use latest version of WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the file. COMPLETE STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION GUIDE IS INCLUDED.

The upload should go easy when you receive your thumbdrive in a few days. Just follow the simple instructions and input the FSC code and insert the thumbdrive into the USB port...and in about 20-30 minutes...your maps will be updated. I do recommend driving around while the maps update...or you could connect a battery tender/maintainer if don't want to drive around while the update is going on. The one thing you DON'T want to happen is to run the battery down while the update is occurring...which is why it's suggested to drive around or hook up a battery tender to the jump start terminals in the engine bay.

It's pretty straightforward to use E-sys to get your FSC file and decode it. The maps are available on the forums here as well.

Alternatively you can use BimmerCode to get your FSC file then a small windows program will give you your lifetime code..

Use Waze.
I actually prefer it except it doesn’t show on HUD.

For those of you that successfully did this:

I keep getting the same error, in using a windows computer, I downloaded all the files and then copied over the files to the formatted 64gb USB.

My 2014 X5 sees the update and then asks me to put usb #1 in and doesn’t ask for code or anything and doesn’t do anything after that.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong? Did you guys have to use an extractor program instead of just copying files over?

Thanks

I thought I’d play it “safe” and order the map update from bimmer tech - two actually, one for my car and one for my wifes. Bimmer tech sent me two USB memory sticks with the same files and neither works in either car. I’m copying the files to a Kingston USB stick right now and will try that. Very disappointed.

Here’s another vendor which offers multiple choices. If you don’t have an FSC code (which you will need to update your nav maps) you can get a one-time or life-time FSC code …the 1-time code + maps on a thumb drive is a bit less than the lifetime + nav maps on a thumb drive…and if you already have the FSC code…then it’s even less for the nav maps ready to load on a thumb drive. And even less if you are comfortable with downloading the maps on your own thumb drive: https://bmnavigationupdate.co/shop/

Beware of BimmerMap.com!

I purchased 2022-1 maps for our 2017 X5 from BimmerMap.com, downloaded the maps and activation code files and attempted to install them. Not only was the installation unsuccessful, my vehicle lost its entire navigation system and satellite radio. When I contacted “Nick”, he was barely willing to give me the time of day after he had my money. I ended up having to take the vehicle to my local BMW dealership, where they found that the vehicle’s head unit had failed due to my attempt at installing the map software from BimmerMap.com. It took them over 2 days to get the head unit reset, faults cleared, the satellite radio to work, and to install the new maps. Needless to say, I did NOT save money by downloading maps from BimmerMap.com. To the contrary, I lost that money AND had to pay BMW over 3 times the amount to get them to fix what had gotten corrupted.

I asked “Nick” for a refund ... twice, with no response, even though the website says “100% Satisfaction Guarantee”. Yes, HIS satisfaction, not yours or mine!

When I try to access the site now, I get a 403 Forbidden error. I think he may be trying to cover his tracks. A whois lookup shows bogus registration information. All signs for the buyer to BEWARE!

Has anyone done an update to a 2015 F15 successfully?

Hi Bimmer guys,
The dealer just now quoted $340 to do the map update.
I just need more assurance and really dislike having to use my phone for navigation.
Looks like bimmermap is out.
I went to https://bimmernavupdates.com/shop/bmw-x5-series/ and they only list Premium 2021, Next 2021, Route 2021, Evo 2020-2. The guy in the chat was telling me to rest assured it would be 2022, but it just didn't match. The site also says to use a 32GB, so I questioned it. He said to use a 64GB. So, being in external facing IT, that didn't go well.
I have a long drive coming, so if anyone was able to update to 2022 maps on their X5 F15 , please let me know what you did. Thank you,
-PTYRick

I haven't upgraded my Nav Maps since 2022...but I did use the bimmernavupdate site TWICE. I updated my f06 & f15 using their thumb drive and purchased lifetime FSC codes for both vehicles and 2020 Nav Maps. I had no issues with their products back then and the maps/navigation/POI (point of interest) info still works fine.

When I go to their website using a link they sent in an email for map updates...you are correct that it still says 2021 in several locations...but it looks like they haven't changed what was previously written and just added banners exclaiming that 2022 nav maps are now available So perhaps the chatroom guy is right?

See if you can call and actually speak to someone live...if you need the extra reassurance.

FYI, I haven't upgraded to 2022 maps yet because the 2020 maps seem to still have everything I need. I'm sure some POI businesses may have succumbed during the COVID shut down...but for the most part, every business I've looked up for directions or phone info has worked...and directions are still working great and I haven't got lost. Maps and POI data from 2021 would still be better than old maps from 2015.

Just a thought.

Next map 2022-1 is available now. It will not fit in a 32 Gb USB so you need a 64Gb one. The 2021 Naxt map is under 32Gb though. You can actually download maps for free from this forum and buy the code only from eBay or this forum. Just did it for my friend's X5/F15.

Another link here. NEXT 2022-1 is that latest. Lifetime FSC codes go a long way for a DIY person.

You can use a 32GB stick, just put folders 1 and 2 with the 3 system files on the stick. Run the update, then when it asks for part 3, remove the stick, re-write it with folders 3 and 4 then put it back in and it will continue on.

OEM BMW sticks are one USB per folder.
