Upgrade brakes on X5d

hello all, got a 2018 X5 35d Msport and I hate the brakes, tiny little callipers wtf bow??!! eats pads every year or so... what is the most common upgrade? I like super strong and stiff brakes. M performance brakes or the brakes off an X5M? are they the same? do they both need to be coded in?
Thanks!

What's your budget for the brake upgrade project?

M performance and M brakes (e70) are the same.

I sell these usually for around $2000 for full set, fully refinished.

You go through pads every year?

But yes the 35i/35d brakes are tiny. I have a 50i which has bigger rotors but still planning to go w/ the M Performance setup, would just like to get some more life outta my stock brakes before discarding them. I have 28K miles now on original pads and they're still at 8mm.

Yes, coding is required.

I did front M5 rotors and pads on my 15 35d MSport. Lighter than the X5M brakes bit requires adapters. Awesome upgrade.

Bro, honestly all you ever do is respond to posts complaining about someone not using the search feature. Give it a rest. You seem to be the only person who gives a sh*t. Honesty, your "use the search feature next time" posts are FAR more annoying than people not using the search feature.

He's not the only person who gives a shit, its tiring to see the same shit rehashed over and over when there are threads detailing the options available, cost, reviews etc. Its one thing to ask a question when the answer is unknown, its another to expect to be spoon fed because people are too damned lazy to search.

You could do it but price point is much higher vs E70 X5M.

So should he instead dig up an old thread and bring it back to the front? You do realize things CHANGE over time right? You expect everyone who is looking for the most current answers to go reference data from potentially years or months ago?

This is not a Tesla forum with new software release every 3 months, E70 brakes still a great option and nothing has changed there. New platform was released and some people installed G05 brakes on F15. Same with every other part, leaky airbags are still the same, nothing changed there. Many answers from months and years ago remain the same.

You mean the thread thats 43 pages long where everyone who explored brake options posted and contributed to the knowledge on the forum? Please enlighten us on what has changed since that thread.....
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1464952

Yes, that reference data that lists part numbers for options, pricing, installation etc for all the options. Its all covered there, so that is exactly what anyone looking for answers on modified brakes should have done.

This F15 platform is 4 years old for the newest models. The only newer option was people who did G05 brakes covered by this thread https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1873650
Again, easily searchable, but I'll wait for you to show what new information is not covered by these threads......

Oh word, so he is supposed to read through 43 pages to get an answer rather than just ask and get a quick response from the forum?

No, he should ask the same question thats been asked before so we have 43 threads asking the same thing, with the same information. Great forum we'd have then

.

I'll be happy to enlighten you. If you scroll up in this thread, you will notice a response from Variante who posted above about his setup. Note that Variante never posted about it in the 43 page thread you referenced. And I know he has a relatively unique setup because I have spoken to him about it previously. So that is a prime example of why you post a new thread - to get new answers.

And if you missed my point, I'll highlight it from the forum rules found here for you

2) Search. These forums tend to accumulate knowledge, and so when you have a question do a simple search first. Alot of times, the best answers will be found in old threads that have gone over the topic in detail. If you can't find your answer or are still unclear, then by all means don't be afraid and post your question.

My list of threads was not exhaustive, my first answer was to SEARCH, the answers are already on the forum.

Not only that, his setup is not unique. I am running the M6 front calipers, with M5 front rotors and X5M rear rotors. Again, NOT unique with lots of corner cases covered.
