X5 real issues

Disappointed big time with the X5. Paid USD 152,000 with local taxes.

It's a brand-new car manufactured in USA
At only 580km on the meter, after few weeks of usage here are the faults and issues.

Steering hum when turning.
Suspension noise coming from front sides, spreading to the center along the steering rack, as if an old vehicle badly maintained.
Thumping noise from brake booster. Also comes when park brake is engaged.
Driver seat belt warning malfunctioning, even at 50kmph no warning.
Two hub caps lost, weaken bonding, emblem comes off.
Chrome molding on rear bumper came off, weak double sided sticker.
Speed warning does not rest and does not warn if speed is exceed, even after dropping speed below the set limit by 10kmph.
Does only 11 km per liter of petrol on expressway at 100kmph, on eco pro.
Auto lights want turnoff in broad daylight. There was nothing covering the sensor.
Boot door makes noises, as if an old vehicle badly maintained.

What a disappointment. Dealer is willing to cover with warranty. Who wants to remove all parts and repair a brand-new car.

Does X5 have any quality control at all before releasing the cars to customers?

I have this same problem and my cable works fine everywhere else (both via direct USB and through the outlet plug).

Did you find out what the issue is?

Thanks.

I haven't, I ended up just getting some 12v USB adapters to put in the front and rear seats and just use those now. TBH, those adapters are more handy to use/get to then opening the center console to use the built in USB anyway, so not really an inconvenience for me.

I agree that the adapters are much easier to use and that's exactly what I've been doing as well. I had forgotten about this problem actually until I saw this post then my OCD kicked lol. I'm just going to put it on my next service-due-list since it's still under CPO warranty, so may as well see what the dealer says. Thanks for your reply.

Above 40mph when I slightly turn the wheel in kind of keeps the steering angle, doesn't move back to neutral, it almost feels like it locks itself.. I don´t know if its normal...... I have an appointment on Monday for a checkup.
If your car has the Active Steering option, I believe this behavior is normal.

You mean, upgrade to NBT Evo yes? As per other threads it's due to to USB port is unable to deliver current more than 0.5A right?

Having a heck of a time replacing the right side (passenger side in the US) door pull. Ordered the part from BMW but not able to remove the handle from the car. Removed the leather and two torx <20> screws. Feel like there is one more small one since the older models show it and the replacement piece looks like there is a spot for a smaller screw. Don’t want to force it off the car just in case there is that third screw.

Anyone else do this replacement before?

Went to local BMW Body shop and they explained that the older X5 (not the F15) can easily be replaced with three screws facing the occupant. The new X5s (F15) the third screw is accessible only by removing the door panel.

Hey Guys!

I need your help. I faced one problem with the trunk of my BMW X6 2016 and I do not know what to do with it.

Not long ago I heard a horrible rattle sound from the back of my car. I stopped by a dealer in Toronto, Canada.

The first time, he did not hear anything. The second time, he told me that it is a plastic trim and that is fine. The third time, they told me that that is normal for a 2-year-old car and they will not be able to help me.

The video of the sound I recorded today can be found here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_F..._AluGGjhPgWVj6

Have you faced with the similar issue? If so, how did you fix it?

Thank you so much for your help! Appreciate your advice.

I got it a 2015 X5 Xdrive 50 i M sport before a month.Today i noticed a warning saying DrainTrain Malfunction . I was able to check the CC-ID code in the check submenu and it has a code of 0034. Not sure what is it (checked the list of codes and could not find this code). The warning was gone with in a mile or so , after i turned the engine off and then restarted. Any one faced this before ? should i ignore this till i see it again or take it to service center? i am out of warranty on the car, 2 weeks back. Will this be a spark plug issues ? any suggestions ?

Did the truck jerk or bog when the Drivetrain Malfunction warning came on? I had this issue with my E70...

The dealer/mechanic will have to read the codes when it's in error mode and I think you need to have it checked as mine only got worse over a month or two. Unfortunately, i don't think this problem will go away on its own. I ended up trading mine in instead of repairing it so I don't know what caused it, but from what a few BMW mechanics told me, it needs to be read in error mode to see what's causing it.

If I were you, since you're just out of the warranty period, I would still take it to BMW service to have them check it and log it in your file. They may be willing to help you with pricing or even cover the repair since it's so close to warranty expiration. Are you out of warranty because of the mileage, because you're in a 2015 and factory warranty is usually 4 years?

Yes I just crossed 50k 2 weeks back. And yes I did check both Error Codes(sub menu) and Checks(sub menu) Codes from the hidden menu by unlocking it. There is no Error code at the miles when this Warning came up. But there is a Check code ( CC-ID) 0034 came up exactly matching with the miles when i got the warning yesterday. So, the error mode you talking about is totally different than these two ?

I am referring to the error code when they plug in the OBD. I don't know if that's the same error code you're getting. Try searching the error code and see what you come up with. There are lists of codes on the interwebs.
