2018-1 Map update Next

Hi,

I was able to update my X3 map with some help.

My other is a 2014 x5 with the 2014 Next map. I have a FSC code and am ready to update. I have the USB as follows in the root. I insert the USB in the center console and it does not see the map or do anything ?

Question
- Is the USB in the console on the F15 (F25 was glove box)?
- Is there something missing on the USB?
What could I be doing wrong?

The USB is in the central console.
The file structure does not look legit to me, that's why the update is not recognised.
The folders should be named 01 to 05.

Thanks.. I redid the USB and put the files from NAVD_000014B8_255_004_175 to the root as below.

Yep that did it! On CIC I had to put all files in the root (my x3/F25). With NBT/ Next I don't. This is good to know the difference as reading the forums it was not clear.

Thanks !

Just curious, which site provided the files that way?

Click on the link in the post by Hashtag above, PM the OP of that post for links, download the software, buy an ENET cable and create your own code for free. It worked for my 2 cars.

ArmyRn33 also posted this link to download the most recent map update (18.2).

Do you know if this is possible via Bimmercode instead of an Enet cable?

N-o, it doesnt. And, if you don’t want the trouble of enet, then buy yourself a lifetime FSC code from eBay.

If you have or are willing to purchase an ENET cable and a Windows laptop, follow the instructions below. If not, buy a code as suggested by CatalinP .

Go to this thread and post at the end requesting the links for the FSC code generator. Or, you can PM kretzu directly and ask him for the links. You will get a PM with two links. One contains a ZIP file of the programs you need to produce a FSC code, the other is 7-zip, a program used for unzipping ZIP files. Download both of them.

Install 7-zip, if needed.
Unzip/extract the other file.
Open the folder you just created.
Open the "Tutorial - how to.pdf" and follow the instructions to produce a FSC code. If it's your first time, you will need the "B tutorial".

After you have your FSC code(s):

Go to this link to get the torrent file for the most recent map update (18.2).
You will need a program like qBittorrent to download the entire 19.8Gb map package.
After downloading it, extract it to a 32GB or larger USB drive, turn on your car and insert the drive.
Follow the prompts on the iDrive.

Doesn't seem to difficult...what else would I use the enet cable for? Weighing the price of the cable vs a lifetime code.

If you want to do coding on your car you need one. Unless you use bimmercode

While bimmercode can do a lot, an enet cable can do everything and is needed for VO coding (permanent VLD and NGHB headlights, enhanced bluetooth, etc) and for BM3, if your looking to do engine tuning now or in the future.

Yup. Enet cable is definitely the best way to go. Plus there are a lot of smart guys on the forum to help if needed. (Not me, I'm still pretty new at it lol)

My current map version says Road Map NORTH AMERICA EVO 2017-1...I assume the links in this post are the wrong links since they have NEXT in them instead of EVO? Anyone have links to the most current EVO version?
