Planning in getting a Quick Jack for my F15 35i. Issue is what model to get. Since our vehicle is in the border of 5k lbs, should I get:

1. Model 5000 or 7000? The latter being overkill?
2. SLX (Standard) or EXT (extended)? Some say better short than longer?

I would also be using this for x3 (f25) and M3 (f80)

Also, Costco selling the 5000 SLX $1k delivered. $300 cheaper! No other model on sale

BTW, quick jack on sale until Nov 15. Promo code SEMA2018

For members who got one, what your reco?

I don't have much experience with these, but that 5000lbs limit is awfully close to our vehicle weight. Gross weight of the X5 is between 6000 and 6400 (Curb weight is 4790 and not sure what the difference is)

Although it may be Overkill on the 7000slx, having one of these collapse while you're under it will quickly negate the savings. It's also the first one that shows an SUV in the picture. Not sure of our wheelbase, but would the 7000ext be better for the same price?

Never think a higher rating jack is overkill. At least I would feel safer getting under the car with an overkill jack holding the car up.

Curb weight is all you need to worry about when jacking a car.

Gross weight is the weight of the car full of fluids and at the cargo max (passengers and luggage).

Curb weight is exactly what it sounds like. The weigh of the car without any cargo or passengers sitting st the curb. But still with fluids etc.

But I do agree. Playing it safe when it comes to jacking never hurts.

There a joke in here somewhere...

It would also give you flexibility for an x7. (at the rate these cars are gaining weight, I'm sure within 2 more generations the X5 will also cross 5K lbs)

I have the 7000 quick jack, the only issue is that is too short to reach the jacking points on the F15, I use 2 long pieces of 4”x4” pieces of wood, if I had to do it again I would get the 7000 EXT which is a bit longer.

I agree 7000 EXT is the way to go

5000 vs 7000 price difference worth your life? I'd go 7000 anyday that way you won't feel is this gonna collapse on me any given moment. Better safe then sorry man, nothing is worth a life.

I have the 5000SLX and also the extension piece to make it the same length as an EXT (Purchased my quickjack before the EXT came out). I find that it's STILL not long enough to reach both jack points. it's 6" longer according to their website.

I would check measurements first!

Otherwise, it is awesome for my other cars and way better than using a Jack/Jack stands. I can get higher than that setup and also feels more stable.

Will the 7000EXT be perfect for pretty much all applications? X5 and say M2 and anything in between?

Dang. I have a 5000 and was thinking of getting the EXT extenders so I could jack the x5. How far off are They from the jack points?

Just short. BUT, I have used them side to side vs. front to back and it works fine. Good for brake/tire changes and oil changes and most work.
