Unplugged fuse #129 in the right side of the trunk (SUPER easy). 2 minute job
Active sound is disabled now! The car sounds/feels smoother inside. No annoying noise in sport or sport plus now! Just pure exhaust sound. B&O system sounds way better now! Much more clear sound/better bass. Thumbs up! Do it now! |

Hey guys, I now ride x5m with b&o for 3 years, and for all that time I have problem that with my eq and bass level that I like, I hear metal buzz sound from passanger side (listen hip hop most and songs like mask off future bass do so much metall like buzz sound) I came to dealer and they open sub passanger seat and take a look on sub and say that its work fine and its all because I set too much eq and bass level so that sound its because sub crank.
Now I read that threa and I fire on swap it to earthquake sub from guide, its fix my problem? Please answer. I love all at this car but I really hate when I listen deep bass in new hip hop and its sound like some metal coin on my sub under passanger seat. Any one also have this? |

Not related to the sound of the system but the B&O in my '16 F16 made me crazy. Sunlight would reflect off the aluminum trim in the center speaker that pops up in the dash and create a prism effect in the cabin. It was dizzying and very distracting.

I had the B&O with my X6 M. Traded in for X5 M with HK system. B&O is overrated IMO

That sucks. sounds like you may not have the vehicle anymore, but if you do, maybe the trim could be vinyl wrapped?

I lasted all of 4 months in that vehicle. I hated it and took a bath getting out of it. Being blinded by prisms and reflections was just the icing on the cake.

Spoke with the vendor in the link above. They said it is not compatible with B&O on the F15/F85 and is not Plug+Play. Did you have a different experience or are they misinformed?

What you have to do to get the best BASS from B&O:
1) play CD ripped mp3s (seriously, and again: CD ripped, because even 320 kbps can be low quality, no YouTube downloads) 2) use iPhone cable to play music or update your car firmware to the latest version (so bluetooth will be the same quality) 3) unplug fuse #129 so no engine sounds will be played 4) use bass booster EQ setting on your iPhone (Settings » Music » EQ) 5) in car audio setting set treble to about 70-75% and bass to about 90-95% Now the sound will be super clear with a great BASS. But even for me it's not enough, so... 6) install 200-400 W RMS hidden subwoofer under trunk floor (active or with separate amp) |

Earthquake Sub Update?
Jenner - would love to read an update on the Earthquake 8" subs. Or thoughts from anyone else that has lived with them for awhile.
Thanks! |

Recently, my little guy, 6yo, asked to listen to the "Venom music" his cousins showed him... Which wound up being Skrillex. On Spotify stream, stock EQ on the app the car shook. I was well impressed and I come from a past which includes a dual 13.5 W7 setup with 2 1000/slash amps.. Obviously no where near that level but way better than anything I've ever had stock. To impress me with bass, it has to be legit. This was the first time i actually listened to music loud in this car. B&O system impressed me.

-Moving the carpet around to get the sub housing out is a pain on the drivers side but it's do-able. -You'll need a T50 socket for the seat bolts and a T20 driver and socket for the grille screws (the screws are recessed deeper than the socket allows), alternative is to drill the recessed screw holes to a much larger size when removing, since they cannot be used with the earthquake subs, anyways. -Cut the wires to the factory plug as close to the plug as possible, there is no slack for error when connecting to the earthquake provided adapter ring, which brings me to my next point: -Do not purchase the adapter ring! It comes with the subs. -The sound deadening material that was used in the earlier post is no longer available on Amazon, I purchased 2 Sq. Ft of Dynamat extreme for $20 and that was more than plenty - Make sure you cut out the holes that vent into the side channels after laying down the Dynamat or you will have no airspace! (I am wondering if an earlier poster that stated the subs sounded like S%$! might not have done this). -An earlier post mentioned set bass around 90% and treble around 60%, that's just about right. -Beastie Boys "Brass Monkey" thumps pretty darn hard, plenty enough for an aging music lover. Am interested and will be watching the longevity factor of the amp/components after making this change since I have installed 4 ohm speakers into a system designed for 8 ohm speakers, so will report back after awhile. Ping me if I fail to report back. I do believe I will be a good tester of this setup since I listen to just about everything, and usually at a loud (70-80%) volume.
