I installed Stealth Hitch (video)

I installed the Stealth hitch to my X5. I love the hidden look when it's not in use. I also like the the increased towing capacity. The video I created was going to be instructional but it turned out to be informational as my SD card filled up and I busted my knuckles a couple of times. I was working with limited amount of tools as my tool box was in a storage unit. Anyway if anyone is curious and want to see the process here's a video.

I didn't get quoted to install. I just went for it haha. It wasn't as bad as it looks from the video. There's just a lot of stuff you need to remove to access and replace the crash beam with the stealth hitch. I highly recommend the active harness.

After doing all the research on Curt, OEM and Stealth Hitch, this video is what helped me choose Stealth Hitch. I ordered and installed it myself and I could not be happier with the results. I spent just over $1300 for the combo unit with active harness. The instructions they provide are top notch. The install went smoothly and codemycar.com did the coding to add the trailer features and even added other coding options at no extra cost.

My only tip is to be sure you buy the plastic tools for removing the retainer clips, they gave me the most trouble due to not having the right tools.

My X5 is a 2018 50i with M Sport package. There was no cutting required at all for my install.

Where were you last week? I just installed mine last Saturday using the instructions manual. Took me about 3 hours (no wiring) but that’s because I was being careful not to ruin the wheel arch plastic tabs. +1 on getting the plastic trim removal tools before staring this project. It’s worth the $15 investment. Great DIY project.

Thanks for sharing.
