The X5M/X6M have all functioning front grills and side vents, unlike it's non-M counterpart. Every opening of our M has a purpose, either to cool the car or help with aerodynamic. There's only one non-functioning grill/vent that has been bothering me since I got my car, the OEM rear diffuser's non-functioning fake grill/vent. The fake grill/vent is very noticeable when washing the car, suds get stuck in it which takes a bit of effort to rinse it out. I've been looking at diffuser options, which aren't many. There's one at the time, which costs an arm and a leg. I contacted RW Carbon and they delivered.

This is made overseas with very tight quality control, not something you would see on eBay. RW is very particular on their manufacturing partner.

The X5M/X6M diffuser by RW Carbon arrived in perfect condition. Every carbon fiber weave lines up, the clear coating is flawless, and the fitment is perfect. Best of all, it's made of 100% carbon fiber (no plastic and no fiber glass). It's extremely light, less than 3 lbs, yet very rigid. The fitment is tighter than a Dan Wesson's 1911, just 100% perfect.

DIY

Removal:
(1) Remove the 4qty 8mm screws
(2) Remove diffuser, held by clips, so start from the outers then work inwards (use a bit of force if needed). A safer way is to reach behind the bumper and use you fingers to release each tab.

Installation:
(1) Clean the crevasses with a wet microfiber cloth and few drops of dish washing soap (this also help lubricate the install clips)
(2) Install the difusser, center first the work outwards. Use you fingers behind the bumper to keep the plastic part from moving and the other hand pushing the diffuser in. Work on one clip at a time, it should easily pop in place as long as the bumper isn't moving.
(3) Install the 4qty 8mm screws, which all lines up perfectly when all clips are in.

I hope you enjoy the photos. The quality of the diffuser from these unedited images speaks for themselves.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with it. No more fake grill/vent.

Let me know if you have any questions or request for more photos.

-Jimmy

I have changed mine in 20 minutes !!!

To avoid using force to remove the OEM diffuser, you can reach the clips from under the diffuser, skeezing them with your fingers to release them easely.
Hope this will help those you want to Change the diffuser!

Cheers!

Thanks. I learned this after the fact. Luckily there's no broken clips. Just updated the instruction.

Photo below so you guys can see the clips. Damn our OEM exhaust is ugly. I might even coat the muffler black with engine paint until I get a reasonable price for an exhaust.

Looks great, very similar to the RKP diffuser. I am not sure what you paid but I am guessing from your post much less than I paid. Let me know if they make a rear CF spoiler.

RW made a copy of the RKP diffuser

Sad part is they are not even selling it as a "RKP" replica. They are trying to take credit for the design.

Looks similar to RKP. Fitment, finish, and quality aren't jeopardized. Retail is $899. I had experience with RW Carbon in the past so I trust their quality.

There's not many diffuser options for our cars like the F80/F82. This allows companies to charge M tax. Companies like RW Carbon helps keep M tax in check.

Mode Carbon, for example, makes really good unique product and their price is extremely reasonable ($995 for M4 diffuser). I would buy theirs in a heartbeat. However, they won't make it for the X5M due to low market volume (at least to my knowledge).

So it is what it is... If RW Carbon doesn't make products similar to RKP, companies selling directly on eBay will. At least with RW Carbon, there's a U.S. phone number for me to call for any issues and exchange. Just my 2 cents.

Is there a front carbon lip available yet? It would compliment the rear good!

Nate, it's good to have choices, it brings better quality and more options. I am very pleased with the fit and finish of my RKP part. I think if it retailed for $1499 or so around the price that BMW would sell an M performance piece it would do better. On a different note, any news on a rear spoiler or front lip? For me I would do the rear spoiler but not the lip. Takes too much utility out of the X5.

Ok I glad to see this as I purchased a diffuser from RW also. The price for the RKP is just dumb and once again heavy M tax. No reason this should cost 1800

Glad to see fittment is perfect. Was concerned with this and haven't had a chance to install it

Our OEM exhaust and tips are hideous.

Yep, could be 1-1.5' larger

Or with an option to add carbon fiber snap on cover

Installed my RW spoiler today. Took me around 30-35 mins to complete. Instructions from Jimmy were pretty spot on and the fittment was perfect. Really afraid of this as normally fittment is what you sacarfice when you purchase knock offs or copies.

Happily surprise but RW provide a fittment gurnantee.

I had a slight variation to the install directions as I found it easier to install the sides tabs first and then to the middle. Could be variations of the diffuser and tabs but once a the sides went in the rest came together. Looks great and now just need a new exhaust or new larger tips.

Recommend this product.
