I love that wide hip (4S wide body on a 2WD car).
A 991 and F85, you have it all my friend.

but, the weird thing is, tire rack SCORPION-0 335/25r22 spec overall dim 28.8" and same 335/25r22 p-0 overall dim 28.7". if checking 295/30r22 PSS overall dim is 29" and scorpion-0 is 29.1" for PSS 325/30r21, overall dim is 28.7" which is close to 729mm so different brand of tire overall dimension is actually different than what we think that is. check the spec of the tire for accurate data |

thank you JNoSol
i have another question, for 22", i actually want to go for PSS 295 all around. i know the rear stock is 325 but i think PSS probably better than scorpion-0. P-0 too expensive... what do you think? probably not looking too wide on rear but better setup? 22x11 and 22x11.5 with 295 all around |

Shot in the dark, but ability to rotate and get more use? My m5 winter setup was square, it looked stupid though because the rear rim stuck out.

You can't rotate if the wheel size are different front and rear.

I meant dismounting and rotating the tire, which I did with my winter squared setup after two seasons. Provided the direction works.

Looks like there is a trend here. F85 + 911 = best year round solution. It might be dry and warm enough to take my 911 TT out this weekend.

I wouldn't mind a used 991 C2S/C4S right now or 997 Turbo.

Just go staggered tires, 295 is too stretch on 22x11.5. The key is forged wheels, cheap wheels will bend no matter if you have more side walls.

FYI, BMW don't even recommend rotating tires. It's not even on the scheduled maintenance, even for non-staggered setup. Our cars are balanced 50/50, no need to rotate unless it's for track racing. I've never rotated tires on any BMWs i've owned, staggered or not. Tires get mounted and stay for the life of it. Lots of wear on the wheel hub/bolts if you keep rotating, that's why people who track or change the wheels a lot switch to stud conversions.

Hey all, I have a 2010 X5 M, was thinking of upsizing wheels from OEM 20's to OEM 21's even though it isn't listed as an alternative size option for these E70's they have the same running gear from models built 2009-2013 would doing to plus size have a negative effect? Or does anyone know of a variance in the model from 2010 to say 2011,12,13 etc that would be different?
I'm sure it's fine but you never know. I've been searching for a while and all data says the same, but some transmissions part numbers vary by year even though they are the same mechanically. Thoughts? You guys seem to have a handle on this sizing stuff in this thread. Thanks in advance! |

Anyone have a picture of the DWS06 on the X5M wheels? Side profile and maybe a stand over view?
Trying to see how they look compared to how they fit on our e70 50i with Sport wheels. If they look stretched and smaller or not. Living in the mid-atlantic with 20k+ miles a year traveled I'm try to decide if sticking it out with the summers and not driving it for long periods of the year is realistic or just change to all seasons and enjoy it all year around.

Winter tire options for OEM 21" staggered wheels
Hello,
I have a 2018 X5 M on its way and has the 21" wheel package. Car is leased and I'd prefer to not have a set of wheels to attempt to sell at the end so am considering just winter tires and dealer said they'd store the Michelin's and swap them on in summer. Doing research here, it appears that this could work on stock wheels: Pirelli Scorpian Winter 275/45/21 for fronts on 21x10 rims and same tire, size 315/40/21 on the back on 21x11.5 rims. My calculations show that the diameter between front and back would be 0.6%, which if I'm understanding this right, would be less than the 1.5% threshold that creates issues. The overall diameter would be about 2" taller than the stock setup, which doesn't appear to be an issue from what I'm reading here either, is that right? At least in terms of the ECU, but is there enough travel and room in the wheel well for a setup like this without any rubbing or bottoming? To get the 285 and 325 combo I can only find Scorpian run flats and I just have such terrible experience with run flats. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks! |
