opasha I'm waking this old thread back up. RaceChip seems promising. Now that you had it for about a year, any other pros and cons you would like to share? Any glitches or CEL?

Thinking of RaceChip for my F85.

opasha has been offline for awhile now.
Last word we heard, he is studying hard for his exam.
He replaces his RaceChip Ultimate to BMS Stage 1 since it is much easier to install while give out the same amount of gain.
I have installed both of them on N63tu motor.
While on the F85/F86 S63tu motor, no confirmation if the BMS Stage 1 works, if it does, the installation is the same as the RaceChip.

Although correct statement, Racechip went back on for performance comparison and he preferred the power delivery of RC too. Haven't talked to him in like 2 months

Agreed, BMS easier to install, RaceChip just a little more but it will worth every sweat

Kamil from DTMHaus came through with a tune for the N63tu on my 2015 X5 50i. I tried Burger with no success with both MAF and MAP installs. Terry was super helpful with logging, but for whatever reason my X5 just did not want to accept the tune.

Quick and easy install and on the stock settings, definite improvement over stock. I like the fact that it has a disconnect to return to stock without having to take off the air box.

I will turn it up a bit, but wanted to get this posted.

1' of roll out run 1 = 0.2 seconds:

0-60 - 3.89
0-100 - 10.00
1/4 mile - 12.49 @ 110.35

I'm hoping a little more boost and fuel and this will best my 2010 X5M S63 tune @ 12.45 @ 111 (track slip).

I started out with the DTM RaceChip on setting D. I moved it up a single notch to E and managed the following:

60' - 1.9 seconds
0-60 - 3.80
0-100 - 9.86
1/4 mile - 12.38 @ 110.94

Should have it to the track this Saturday for a few time slips. The shorts are typically quicker at the track vs the Vbox.

Full tank of gas and 240lb driver. I'll try adding another click to the dial while I'm at the track.

Worth noting my tuned X5M did 0-100 in 9.35-9.6 seconds and 862-886 feet - this one did it 915 feet.

I have about 50 miles now and the tune seems flawless. Much less lag in the lower rpm range.

Anyone with the N63tu run the F setting ?

I'm going to bring it to the track this Saturday to verify the Vbox numbers.

I have dyno proof they the RaceChip doesn't give you any gain on the N63tu.
BMS Stage 1 is the only budget tunes that works with the N63tu. The other would be Dinan.

Interesting would like to see the dyno's.

Vbox doesn't lie - nor do my results.

I also find it interesting I worked with Terry for two days going back and forth with logging data for him on both the JB1 and the JB4 and no increase in boost.

Terry, your more than welcome to chime in.

Seems the exact opposite as JB piggyback had no impact on my truck. Also Vbox proves it works. When I disconnect the RaceChip ultimate, the truck is over 4 seconds to 60 and 10.8 to 100. Chip pulls off 1 full second to 100.

Only way you pick up 5+mph in the 1/4 mile is with adding power. And in a 5500lb truck it's more than 60hp.

I've been doing this a long time.

Car will run with dead even with my F10 550ix and X5M. Vbox shows this and slips will soon as well. I will run it with and without the tune

Unless if RaceChip has updated their firmware, which I wasn't aware with.
I can't share the dyno sheet publicly since it was on going troubleshooting which I gave up forking money for dyno session.
If you want to PM me your email address, I can share it with you personally, but not to share publicly.

FYI: AFAIK, Terry is banned from this forum. I don't doubt him on the effort, but I have been selling and using BMS Stage 1 for the N63tu motor. It also shown in the dyno result.

Sure shoot me an email, parrde@gmail.com

See Terry's response to me below after the testing and logging of multiple solutions.

FWIW - RaceChip level one customer support initially said they have no solution for the N63TU, but their engineering / technical guys followed up and said they have a solution.

I see no other way to increase trap speed and lower 0-60 / 0-100 and 1/4 mile of its not increasing boost and ultimately power.

5400lb vehicles with drivers don't just pick up that kind of speed without pickup up power.

BMW might be using different DME's in different build times. I vbox and drag strip tested 2 different RaceChip modules directly from RaceChip on a n63tu. Zero gains on any level in eithert module. Sent both back. Money refunded.

Tried the BMS jb1 Maf intercepts and it worked great. Vbox and strip gains.

Also using RaceChip on my S63tu with great results so no bias here.

Know others that tried RaceChip on n63tu with zero gain.

N63tu is an odd duck.

That is basically what Terry said and based on other comments, I'd agree.

My12X5 50i and 13 550ix had/have Dinan Stage II. When I got rid of the 12 N63 I picked up an S63 X5M and had a Eurocharged tune. Upgraded to the 15 and my local dealer cut ties with Dinan, so left me without a tune since August. I tried the Burger with no gains and RC worked.

So either way, I'm pretty pleased. Fun car for groceries and through the winters.

Summer car season soon so it won't see much use til fall.

I'm glad you found a solution that worked for you. It is a royal pain to keep trying different tunes like we both did.

Sounds like you are making great power now.

Keep us posted on the results.

Droptopp congrats ! the RaceChip works for some on the N63Tu for some it doesn't.
Which track did you go to ?
Those are some good times my friend's stock X5M ran 12.1 at ATCO (fastest track in tri-state)

Lots of records set at ATCO. NY International Raceway Park (Empire National) is my local track. DA was probably +800.
