2015 X6 (F16) Standard 20" Wheels vs 19" Help
I have been searching the threads and have seen people say that the mixed tires only mean that they are a different size? So does that mean the mixed tires are also all seasons?
I have the two options below without extra charge when building my car. 20" V Spoke Style 597 with mixed tires 19" Y Spoke Style 595 with all-season tires I personally like the look of the 20" more but I think the all seasons are more beneficial for my needs. I just want to know if the 20's come with the same type of all seasons as the 19's. Thanks! |

If you want 20" wheels with all-season tires, you have to get non-RFTs after delivery. I would prefer to have all-seasons, but after 13y of X5/6s with 18s/19s, I wanted 20" wheels more than all-season tires. I guess I'll see how the performance tires work out. I think that my issue will probably be more a tread-life thing than a cold-weather traction thing. |

Apparently, you are in Toronto - makes things very simple due to the snow. Either 19" setup, 20" setup with all season tires which you would have to buy and switch, or a separate winter setup. You would be surprised how economic some used OEM sets of X5/X6 wheels go for that could be used as winters. But the 20" will turn your X into a slip and slide without the correct tires.

My X6 came with the standard 20" off-set wheels and performance tyres and they are rubbish in ice or snow. I therefore bought BMW OEM 20' off-set wheels and snow and ice tyres (expensive). I could have got 19" OEMs, but they look too small. I did have some old 18" wheels and snow tyres from my E70 X5, but they would not fit over the M perforamnce disc brake (385mm).

Quick question on trying to fit the 18s on, what was the issue the caliper size? Do you have a 35i or 50i, is there a difference in the brakes between the two?

If you upgrade to the M Performance brake kit or other big brake kit, 20" is the minimum size.

OK perfect, just to clarify, the xDrive35i US with just the M sport will suffice with an 18? I dont see anywhere the brakes are upgraded on the spec list.
