How much power is added with stage 2 + intake at the lower RPMs compared to stage 1? That's where I feel the X5M is really sluggish, even with Stage 1. In daily driving, that's where I feel like I need more power, because the transmissions likes to keep the RPMs low.
Also, if I already have the stage 2, will I need to change the Dinantronics box? |

so a stock vehicle would need the intake + stage 2? no need to buy stage 1 and then stage 2, it's just a different version of software/mapping on the tuner device?

Correct. If you had stage 1 you could update your existing box to stage 2 for the cost difference between stages.

I wish you guys would measure your HP gains at the wheels rather than crank. Just seems to inflate the actual gains you are getting when measured at the crank. Obviously a 15% gain sounds better than a 5% gain though.

Dinan measures the HP and torque of the stock car on their engine dyno (crank) as baseline as well so their % gains are calculated correctly. The delta, whether you're measuring it at the crank or wheels, sound be the same and not inflated as long as you're comparing both wheel or crank numbers.

Complete waste of money lol. Yes the hardware they make is nice, but nowhere worth what they charge.
And many tuners can hit 700hp just on a stage 1 flash tune without bolt-ons. I don't know why ppl throw away their money at Dinan |

1 - The software is great. 2 - Their exhaust on the M4 at least rattle with broken welds. 3 - Their wheels lack imagination and purpose. 4 - I would be very skeptical about their suspension - you have Ohlin which is as good as it gets. So for 2k in software and 700 hp with dealer warranty. You can't go wrong. The rest well its up to you if you want to uglify your ride. |

I really don't know why people like you feel the need to come in just to bash on Dinan. Clearly if you are in these forums you are aware of what other tuners can do with different platforms. It's easy to extract a ton of power from these cars without placing a warranty behind it. People choose different tunes for different reasons and I don't know people just can't grasp that simple concept. Thanks for your input though!

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Considering nobody else makes an intake for this car I think the price is fair. Look at what some other tuners are charging for intakes for other M cars and this is considered cheap.
I didn't get it for power. I got it for sound and any extra power gained is just a plus. Alan |
