DIY oil pan stripped repair

Hey guys!
I know the topic has been discussed here, I've read all of it,
But I didn't see anyone managing or trying to rethread the oil pan instead of replacing it ($$$). It looks like an easy DIY to do.
Currently, my oil drain does not have a big leak. It doesn't drip, ( I've checked every day where I park the car, no drops on the floor) but when I touch it with my finger, I can see oil on it. So I am not planning to touch it before the next oil drain (in 8000km). Is it a good idea ? Can/should I apply some RTV (adhesive silicon) on the head of the bolt as a temporarily solution? Or should I be concerned that the bolt my unplug itself at some point and my oil drain completely, frying my engine ?

So for the next oil drain, I am planning on doing this:

1) Try to remove the current bolt and drain the oil.
2) Rethread the pan with an M14* 1.5 threading tool with grease on it so it catches the aluminium dust created with the drilling.
3) Insert the new m14*1.5 bolt with a crushwasher to check if it sits tight.
4) Put my old oil back and drain it to remove all debris.
5) Re-insert new blot and check if it leaks.

Is there anything wrong with this plan, anything else I should consider, any warnings, tips ??

I figured the worst that could happen if I mess with this drain is changing the oil pan for almost 2k at the dealer.

So I might as well try to fix it myself.

Thank you for your contributions..

I will post the DIY Tutorial with pics when I do it !

Sounds ok, but instead of re-threading have you considered using a Time-sert?

How about trying a oversized drain plug?

oof, ok. I get that, but the aluminum oil pan is soft so by just re-threading you're eventually going to end up in the same situation again.

The oil pan aluminium is indeed soft, but not soft enough to be a "poor quality " aluminium.
I'd say it's soft to the point that it can be rethreaded and if you don't torque it like I did in the ifrst place (-_-) no matter how big the thread ( or the rethread), it will just be fine.

I hope I am right..
