BM3 Stage 1 91 octane to 93 octane
So in the shop for an unrelated issue and decided to have my car flashed to 93 octane stage 1 whereas it was initially flashed to 91. They said there is a $50 charge now. I thought all OTS tunes were free? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

They're charging you for their time and labor to do the flash, unless I'm missing something. That's not an outrageous charge.

No, this is a charge from BM3. They are not charging me directly. The owner of the shop called BM3 or whoever directly.
They are saying now that BM3 will allow you 1 OTS tune for free. If you want a different one, you can get all OTS tunes for $150. Not worth it for me. Regardless, I would have done the 93 octane tune the first time if I knew there was a charge. |

I am in the midwest, Kansas City to be precise. There is one gas station chain that is pretty popular here and that is what I always used. This chain has 91 octane. However, I found out when I was getting ready to do the tune that all BPs in our area have 93 octane. BP is the ONLY chain that has 93 octane but there are enough of them so I was going to change to 93. I suppose it doesn't matter that much but I thought all OTS tunes were covered under the initial purchase. I suppose it is my own fault for not knowing better. Though my shop did tell me that they would go back and forth and it wouldn't cost me anything. Live and learn I guess.

Not that it matters much, but the BM3 website is pretty clear that you only get one map credit with purchase and you have to pay $150 for all maps. It's been like that since at least July when I bought my X6 M. I assume you bought through your shop without reading the protuningfreaks' website? It seems like it was the shop's misunderstanding...

Chicane Motorsport in Gardner. It's a ways out there but it seems as though they have a great rep throughout the Midwest. They were very good to work with and will continue to go there when I have the time to drive all the way out there.
There's a shop in Liberty called 515 Motorsport but they only do Mission tunes. For $800, well worth it. I do not have downpipes. I might do them at some point but other stuff is priority. At the moment, highest priority is coil overs. |
