I loaded the stage 2 tune. A little snappier over stock. Not earth shattering but a nice improvement. The fact that I can tune the Launch Control is an awesome feature. Seems like it would be a great thing to have if you 1/4 your car. So far I think it's a nice upgrade for the money.

What kind of changes to launch control can you do?

Here's a screenshot. I haven't played around with it yet but here's what I set initially using the stage 2 map. Haven't used it so I can't comment yet.

How does it launch on stage 2 with those settings?

When RK builds there motors they don't touch transmission or differential.

So if the ECU tune keeps the torque at "reliable" numbers, shouldn't changing where it's delivered not put the car at any added risk?

Not 100% true but I don't know if I'll be saying too much by fully confirming anything so I'll just wait for one of the "fully built" guys to come in and finish lol

Yep. If you follow tunedbyutku on Instagram, you'd see that they are tuning the TCU too. Since it is a public post, I'm going to assume it is ok to say outright. 😜

So quick check in, flashed stage 3 a few days ago. Got some miles on it to relearn adaptations. Highly recommend it. Big bump in low end power delivery, Comfortable smooth shifts driving mildly in D1, fast hard shifts in D2,S2 , ripping fast shifts in D3/S3. Do it.

KLR X5M What drive mode(s) did you drive in prior to the tune? I am typically in D2. D3 holds gears a little long for my preference, at least in daily driving.

So....is D1 your preferred mode for normal driving and then D2 or D3 when you looking for more spirited driving?

I will get the tune as well, just not sure about stage 2 or 3.

Did you adjust anything in the map or are these your impressions just from default values?

My m1 button is setup for d2. It's what i usually drive in. D3 holds great pretty aggressively abutting more than 50% throttle. But much for daily.

I'm stage 3+ fully built and while RK didn't do my TCU flash it was done by their tuner using Femto. If you're pushing 800awhp+ the torque values in the the TCU need to be adjusted or the transmission attempts to preserve itself due to the increased torque and you get 10+psi boost drops between 2-3rd gear shifts at WOT.

Femto is a software tool to flash your transmission if you're beyond a stage 2 as the tuner controls the parameters not a generic OTS TCU map. You can learn more about it here. https://fscmap.com/femto/

I cannot comment on XPH as I've never used it so please don't interpret this as a negative towards their products. Their products are designed to cover 99.9% of the tuned vehicles out there. It's when you start pushing significantly more power and torque than stock the transmission will need a custom flash to compliment your DME tune.

Has anyone tried launch control mode with stage 2 or 3? Does the car still shift for you during this mode even though you're in manual mode like the factory tune does? I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to later today.

What connection method are you guys using to flash? I'm not able to connect successfully using an ENET cable. Thanks.

I'm using the ENET cable and a Ethernet to lightning adapter into my IPhone just like I use for Bootmod3. No issues here.

I use this one in particular but I'm pretty sure just about any one would work.

Thanks NikNala. Support told me to try putting the phone into airplane mode. I'm going to give that a try. Previously I had turned off Wi-Fi and BT.
