Chassis Stabilization: Drive moderately - Error message

2014 X5 35D
I raised the car to do transmission work, replace the filter/pan and ZF ATF oil. To access those 3 bolts on the back of the pan, I jacked up the transfer case about 1 inch.
After the job was done I was greeted with that message (Chassis Stabilization: Drive moderately)
Now I am not sure if I broke any plug or any connector from the transfer case motor. I tried resetting the system by using software but I was not successful.
Any insight? I had no issues at all before raising the truck to work on.
This is driving me nuts omg!
Thanks, folks

Prob you got the code when you were working on the car... try to clear the code using a obd2 device so the computer could reset or try to leave the car locked and walk away for 30 minutes so the computer could hard reset by itself.

Good luck!

Did you do ISTA adaptations after you changed the fluid?I am pretty sure there is a procedure for this.

Drive around for a day; if it doesn't go away, then you have an issue.

P.S. Resetting adaptations has nothing to do with the message/error.

I drove for a few days already and used odb2 to clear codes, but unfortunately it comes back for some reason.

Time to get under the car and re-check the wiring/plugs.

Yes, that is my next step. I had that same thought, raising the transfer case might have broken some plug from the motor or disconnect something.

Sorry to hear about your situation. For others doing diy trans filters, I found this to get the bolts out from under the crossmember.

I have these, it will not fit, the bolts are Torx T40 and not HEX

You are correct. This is the tool I meant.

Chassis stabilization error

I as well get that same error on occasion. Started a couple weeks ago. Along with that error, also came the
Parking Brake Reduced error as well. Not sure if these two are related or not. Indy shop quoted $1,700.00 to replace parking brake module and register it. Couldn't give me an answer on the chassis stabilization error though. Thought it was a low voltage battery issue but that turned out not to be the case. ??

Here's the two messages I get on mine. Pretty frustrating because the truck drives completely fine, other than these annoying warning lights.

Hey sorry to go off topic here but I'm amazed that you're getting 600 miles on your X5! I know it's because you have a diesel but WOW! I only get around 300 to 400 miles max.

No sir, I don't have a code reader. I'm new to the BMW world. Bought this '15 X5 35d used in '19 with a little over 50k miles. Only issue I've had was a warranty emission component that the dealer replaced last month. Now these issues are driving me crazy. Do you have a good code reader recommendation for a DIY guy like myself? I hate paying the insanely high diagnostic fees at the dealership. I've done the routine maintenance, air/oil/ and fuel filter changes, DEF filling, brakes, rotors and sensors. Transmission fluid arrive is coming next, I assume I'll need some kind of code reader/computer to read fluid temps.

Diesel FTW! I posted picture somewhere with 800 miles range right after I drove 200 miles in eco mode and re-fueled.

That was my main reason for buying the diesel. Hella good fuel economy. Long highway trips it sees 31-32 mpg,. Average driving town and highway is 28 mpg consistently.

Look up bimmerlink and bimmercode. Easy to use.

And if you want to get more details and diagnostics, look up ISTA.

What did you do to the transmission? Just change pan and fluid? You top off the fluid with the engine running?

I look into bimmercode and bimmerlink. I haven't done anything to the trans yet, it's on the to do list after sorting out this chassis stabilization error and parking brake error. Is anybody else other than me and the original poster on this topic experienced this? If so what was the solution?

I had the same error come up on mine. A year or so ago. It happened after I replaced my battery. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=25365374. Might not be the same issue but got the same error. Just a thought

Yep I replaced steering wheel and disconnected the battery, got all sorts of errors including the chassis stabilization one. Got it fixed by calibrating steering wheel sensor.
