You would deff get a engine malfunction and reduced power warning but it won't say spark plugs needed lol and I believe My truck was also owned by someone that didn't drive it hard.. that was main reason I bought it but everyone saying every 25-30k miles spark plugs need changing..

Yeah, i have owned 7 BMW’s before this X5M and never heard of it warning for spark plug replacement, this is the newest BMW i have owned tho. Hard to believe a big BMW service advisor says stuff like that. I will probably just replace myself. If you DIY not really that expensive!

Yea I'm big on diy just so I know it gets done and gets done right.. I'm still under warranty till June so bringing the car in for last time n they'll replace spark plugs and go over truck for last time so was thinking let them put stock plugs in then swap them for the step color ones as shown in bm3 link I post up here and see what's best..

Hi, what's the advantage of running cooler plugs?

There's plenty of guys here in UK running very strong ECU tunes 700hp plus on the stock plugs with no issues.
Cheers

Welp like I said I'm using bm3 stage 2 tune catless downpipes and I know plugs need to be changed so wanted to know what everyone was using but bm3 says to use step cooler plugs gapped at .022-.023 and was very confused seeing one other gapping his plugs at .06.. so I'm just going to let dealer change out plugs see how it runs if all goes well then I'll stick with them.. if I feel I could get bit better then I'll try a step cooler n see what happens. Thanks for your input

The BM3 recommended plugs are the same heat range as the stock S63tu plugs. They are colder than some of the older engines. .022in is .56mm. I think you might be confusing the two. BM3 Stage 2 you will likely encounter spark blowout at peak TQ with the stock plug gap. I was experiencing it on the Stage 1 tune with stock plugs. Installed the recommended BM3 plugs at .022in and it went away.

I own F15, but few months ago I got message from my service advisor:

"Mr, Dimov, your 2015 X5 has notified us that it is due for an oil change, spark plugs, and micro-filter". It was around 65k miles. Oil needed change in 3k miles according to the board computer.
