I've received more quotes from different dealerships. Will provide an update later.

Hey guys, need your advice here. My 4yr/50k miles warranty expires by December this year, after, I have 1 year of the CPO. I sleep better when I have a warranty, so definitely going to get one, the question is which one to get.
So far got 1 quote from dealer:

CPO Wrap
72 months/unlimited miles $2550
84 months/unlimited miles $4000

This will give me 1/2yrs additional CPO coverage.
Can I do better?
I know this has been discussed million times, but still would like to hear an options here.
Thanks!

I went with 7 year CPO Wrap for 3900 that I got from a forum sponsor (I believe they are). I have 6 dealers within 15 miles of my home and work, so it was a no-brainer to go with the official. Plus, if I decide to trade my car, I'll get a prorated refund.

After the CPO Wrap expires , I might get a 3rd party if needed.

You guys are making me cry, my 4yr /80k km warranty expires in a few days. I have 40k km on my X5 (24k miles). Here are the costs for extended warranty in from BMW Canada

3yr up to 120kms: $6710 plus tax

3yr up to 140kms: $7845 plus tax

3yr up to 160kms: $9640 plus tax

Tax is 13%

The main issue that scares me is the damned CP3 high pressure fuel pump failure. As much as I love the 35D, think I might sell it. I took my E70 35D to 240k km over 10 years, without fear of the fuel pump grenading.

Blue, I have 183k miles or ~295k km on my 2014 x35d with no warranty. I plan to drive it till the motor gives up which i dont think it will. With only 24k miles that is nearly brand new in diesel terms. If you are worried i would just get the CP3 pump replaced plus that buys you 2 years on the part warranty from bmw.

I thought so too, but I tried to buy from my local dealer here in NOLA, and all they could offer was a powertrain one, not a more comprehensive warranty.

I got mine from Steve Thomas BMW as well. It was easy and straightforward - they had the $100 discount so I ended up paying $3,900 for the 84 months/unlimited. Given I have the V8, it is worth the peace of mind. The wrap covers the Infotainment and navigation which the CPO doesn't, so that's a little extra peace of mind.

We paid much less for our platinum warranties through Lithia Motors: wife' 2015 x5 50i with 22k miles and my 2016 x6 50i with 37k miles were $2652 each for 84 months/77k miles with $200 deductible.

It's merely an Xdrive35i, but it still felt like a great deal. I was able to purchase the 7yr/120k mi warranty from route 66 for my 5 series but unfortunately they won't offer it for an X5.

Unlimited mileage, zero deductible, zero exclusions. Car has 9000 miles on it now, 2018. Your deals sound perfectly lovely as well but I suspect if you could have got what I did for $500 more you might have gone that route.

A bumper to bumper warranty with unlimited miles for $500 more would have been a no-brainer for sure. I paid a LOT more ($5000) on warranty for my first BMW (a 2007 E92 328i with ~50K miles).

I got the same unlimited miles and no deductible CPO wrap which includes the infotainment system as well but for $3900. I was told that I could have gotten a better price for a 35i. Which tells me that BMW probably has more warranty repairs or higher cost ones for the V8. Mine is a 2018 with 22,000 miles on it.But anyway, it still shows that BMW has a lot of confidence in the 35i platform! Kudos to you. A great deal is a great deal.

Peace of mind is priceless. IMHO.

Man, I can't believe the prices you guys have gotten. Maybe it really depends on mileage too, as well as year of manufacture.

My dealer was not able to give my any extended warranty at all other than powertrain after my CPO ended last year. They also said they don't sell any other 3P warranties.

I talked to my buddy who has owned some Bentleys & Ferraris, & he recommended Endurance. I was able to get coverage from them, but it's quite a bit more than what you guys paid. I got 5 years, 100K additional miles, bumper to bumper, $100 deductible. $6400 though. My car is a 2015 with 46K miles, so while this is expensive, so will the next 50K miles be as far as maintenance, etc.

Benefits: I pay it monthly at like $167/month, got $300 off the initial price, and it also covers all recommended maintenance except tires until I get to 147K miles. So all oil changes, filters, plugs, etc, etc. that may come up is completely covered. They also pay the dealer directly, so I don't have to worry about being the middle man and submitting claims. Figure between all the electronics that can go wrong and all the recommended maintenance on these X5 50i cars, I should do ok in the end - and it's transferable and I can cancel with a pro-rata cost.

That's actually a very good deal with all of the maintenance covered and the term is a lot longer. You'll make money off that warranty if you keep the car long term.

Anyone here with a higher mileage (maybe a 2014 model?) X5 that got a warranty later in the vehicle's lifespan? I have about 47k on mine now and my warranty is good through the end of 2022 (I believe up to 100k miles), but I'm wondering what the options will be at the end of 2022 when I'll likely have around 65000 or so miles on it.

Yeah I thought it was a decent deal. I love the coverage language. They cover breakdown of "any part." Welp, that's comprehensive.

They do have exclusion terms for door seals and other water-related stuff (like water damage, rust, etc). But, they generally cover everything else.

As to maintenance, they do say they cover all the maintenance, but I will say the only frustrating thing is they only cover a certain $ amount of of that maintenance. So I think for oil changes, IIRC, they cover only up to $50 for oil changes and up to $140 for replacement of brake pads, which on the X5, is not very much lol

I just picked up a ’15 X5 5.0 52k miles - loaded DA+, Adaptive Comfort 2VM/Dynamic 2VP with . Original owner - BMW service from selling dealer, 50k service complete, tires at 40k - pads due in 10/12k miles. (quote for new pads, sensors, labor - $1226)

Dealer quoted extended warranty 5 yr 60k $4381 $250 deductible with Safe Guard.

Endurance quoted $5790 today for a 5yr 100k, $100 deductible warranty/maintenance/OEM parts/one key fob replacement per year, one battery per contract, 2 tires replaced per year/direct dealer payment.
So, $1158 a year -

Thoughts - thank you!
