POLL: Who did/did not buy from a non-BMW dealer...

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Close to making an offer this week from a non-BMW dealer. Interested in how many people here did the same as I'm not looking for CPO (due to only another year on warranty for another $4-5k premium price).

Poll is intended for used X5/6Ms.

Not really sure what the poll will help you decide
every BMW and non-BMW dealer is different
and CPO adds two years and to 100K mile warranty - well worth the investment if you intend to drive the M like it should be

Just gauging to see how people purchased their used ones. Honestly, a Platinum warranty extends things out pretty far too, probably around the same price as a CPO upfront.

I was going to have a PPI done by a BMW dealer on the one I'm looking at anyway, may not be as in-depth as CPO, but on a 2017 with 5k miles, can't imagine that much will be wrong.

If I'm not mistaken BMW M do not come CPO and BMW has changed CPO warranty. Now CPO adds only 1 more year to your original warranty. But the extra year gives you unlimited miles instead of 25000 miles per year previously.

BMW CPO used to add vehicle under 15000 miles 1year 25000 miles = 75000
Vehicle over 15000 miles 2years =100000 Unfortunately not anymore.

It only adds one year, unlimited miles.

That's what I thought, CPO not necessarily worth it as much anymore, especially since they stopped transferring UltimateCare...

Got my X5M through a ferrari reseller strangely enough - and still has manufacturer warranty, was cheaper than any bmw dealership could provide me.

I hadn't heard this...is this specific to certain vehicles like an X5M, or all BMW's?

Either way, makes it mostly useless for those of us who don't drive a lot of miles.

It's for all BMWs. If you buy a CPO now, it's one extra year of warranty on top of the factory warranty. And yes, it's definitely not worth as much as it used to be.

I bought my 2016 with 7k miles through a Maserati/Mclaren dealer in May, and ponied up the $700 for the reactivation of the maintenance plan with BMW. At $79k I felt pretty good about the deal.

Anything special you had to do to reactivate the maintenance plan (aka UltimateCare)?

New post to follow... Just picked up my 2017 X5M yesterday from a non-BMW dealer.

Love this thing!
