It's a totally different car than the 50i. You made the right decision and will arrive home each night with a smile on your face.

Was in same boat, but i elected to go X5M. Car nuts will know the difference between a 5.0 and a 3.5, but to the masses it looks like every other X5 on the road.
I had to go X5M so I wouldn't have any regrets. It is my favorite car to date. |

Different grills, mirrors, calipers, rotors, wheels, front bumper, rear bumper, exhaust layout. etc. Minor details but enough for those of us who care but not enough for joe commuter who does not.

Are you sure now on a 2017 and 2018 5.0i and 3.5i with the M sport package everything you listed isn't identical? With the exception of the calipers and rotors and the exhaust layout underneath the car. The exhaust tips I know are the same now. Not sure what year this happen maybe it was MY2017 as I remember in 2015 when I got my 5.0i there was more of a difference between the 5.0i and 3.5i.

M-Sport package or not there is nothing identical when comparing the 35i or 50i with X5M in terms of the items I mentioned above.

I'm not talking about 35i and 50i compared to an X5M visually. I'm talking about the 35i and 50i compared to each other. From the exterior they look identical now.

I also just ordered mine last week, and now the dreaded wait begins. Differences to the 50 that I also see are badging, calipers, interior/seats, and color choices. All are better on the M in my opinion, and you also get the improved mechanical stuff. Debatable whether it’s is worth $25K premium, but I decided to go for it.

my apologies. i misunderstood. when equipped with the m-sport package the only immediately noticeable difference i can think of is the brake caliper and rotors between 35i and 50i otherwise they are basically identical in every way.

Black Full Extended Merino Exec Package B&O 21" Thanks to all of you here for feedback. I went and test drove X5M, 50i, my wife wanted Land Rover Range Rover but I found it to be boring. Mid life crisis I guess... the M left a smile on my face for a week after the test drive. Can't wait. Any tips upon delivery much appreciated! Thanks again to everyone! |

I came from X5 50i M sport to the X5M. The suspession is not as harsh that others claim for the X5M, as my X5 50i had DHP/adaptive M suspension. Still waiting for the 1,200 M service before I let it rip. Make sure you take advantage of the encore delivery at your Center which is a few weeks after initial delivery. Lots of info, especially as your coming from a Range Rover. Consider the IND painted reflectors, but a body shop will have to install. Which exterior trim did you go with, if the standard black then switch up the side breathing trim and front kidney grills with black M performance parts. Aluminum trim is a ordering request (I requested this for my LBB as my M4 vert had the black trim from the competition package).

Mine had DHP/M-Adaptive Suspension and I noticed the Sport is stiffer but comfort feels the same. The more noticeable difference is the jerkiness of the transmission in sport/sport+. Outside of that the vehicle is just better all around with much better interior and factory exhaust note.

Thanks bro. Looks like the piggyback on the M is well worth it, and the 1 sec improvement is pretty impressive. So much potential with that engine. But on the 50i, with only 0.3 sec difference, why? Is the stock hp already near the engine limits? |
